If your auxiliary cooling fan (the one that always runs when AC is on- check that it does) is not turning on when the temp gauge is in the red, then the temperature sensor/sender is going bad and giving you bad information. This one is likely located on the engine block itself and has no more than two wires, some only one. Make sure though that you don't confuse the oil pressure sensor with the temperature sensor; they may look a lot the same.
If you like to DIY, I can recommend Haynes for a service manual; they contain all the info one can use for home service:
Durango Manual
We have one for each of three vehicles and keep them on board.

Thermostat could be sticking.I would replace the thermostat and flush the coolant system out with a good coolant flush. Then put some new coolant in ,this should help.

My '11 Ranger 800 crew overheats. Fan start waits til temperature reaches 215, and cuts off at 205. Why?

The fan is controlled by water temp sensor to keep the temp between 160 (fan off) and 190 (on). Is the temp gauge going into the red? Is the temp sending unit for the gauge correct? The fan will run continuous with A/C on. Also check fan relay for over heating.

What causes 1996 Dodge Neon SOHC automatic transmission to delay or slip shifts?

that is a hum dinger, largest ever posted, in one shot.
very good.!
one word , the transmission slips. (never drive a slipping tranny)
overheat indicator.! that is key.
many newer cars will change the transmission shifting any time
the engine over heats.
and overheat wins over transmission , every time.
if the engine burns up, what good is any transmission.? nada.

solve overheat first.

slip or flare.
is when the engine RPM rises fast and the car dont go faster.
SLIPS.
and slipping burns up trannyclutchs and increases the damage. inside the transmission, dont do that. dont allow it,
park it and fix it.

on some tranny there is a temperature sensor that the TCM
watches and changes shift patterns based on AFT fluid temps.
and if the ATF fluid gets too hot , it takes actions. to keep the tranny from harm.

why not get a scan too and see what DTC errors there are..
DTC, engine overheate.
DTC< tranny overheat (caused by above)

2000 jeep grand cherokee, when idling keeps overheating have replaced radiator, water pump, radiator hose ,cap & thremostat, and relay. as long as Im driving the temp stays at 210, please offer...

Since you have already changed everything that you have, I can not think of anything new that might cause your Jeep to overheat. Are you going by the meter in your vehicle or doing separate temperature measurements? I had a defective temperature gauge that caused me to chase my tail till I did separate measurements.

My 2003 olds alero reservoir leaks

Your cooling system needs to be pressure checked to see where the leak is. certain auto parts stores rent out a pressure checker. make sure you have the cooling system full before doing the pressure test. check to see if you have a radiator cap and fill the system that way instead of using the resevoir

1999 Chevy Cavalier Z24 2.4L cooling fan inoperative

Probalby not, seeing that's what's telling your over heating. it wont be a bad idea to remove it (be carefull of hot fluid) and clean it off and put it back in. (wouldn't hurt anyways) but this problem is most likly a falty relay form the PCM to the fans. wireing might be corroed and need to be cleaned. check the fans for power and gorund with an omh meter.
