Idles erratically.Changed fuel filter - 1995 Buick LeSabre

  • Anonymous Jan 16, 2009

    NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A SORRY BUICK AUTO--NOW YOU KNOW WHY PEOPLE BUY HONDA & TOYOTA VEHICLES--LESS PROBLEMS & MORE DEPENDABLE--ENOUGH SAID. I WAS LOOKING OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS ALL OF THE TIMES THIS 1995 3.8 LITRE AUTO WAS IN THE SHOP & IT JUST NEVER ENDED. FIX ONE THING & ANOTHER POPS UP--JUST LIKE FIRE ANTS ALL OVER THE YARD--YOU CAN HARDLY CORRECT ONE THING BEFORE ANOTHER POPS UP.

I own a 1994 Buick LeSabre. I purchased this car brand new. I now have over 150K on the car and other than replacing the tires, fuel filter, plugs and and alternator (with the exception of the tire, all other work was all done by myself), this car it has not given me any trouble. The bottom line, if you properly maintain a car, any car, it will be very reliable. In fact, I have owned several cars (9 to be exact) and they all have given me little trouble. Maintenance, maintenance, & maintenance!

My 2001vw passat some times won't start unless i use starting fluid.I have changed air filter and spark plugs. When i hook it up no codes come up

Troubleshooting steps:
  1. When you first turn the key on, listen for the sound of the FUEL PUMP (humming sound). If you just turn the key on but don't turn it to START, the fuel pump should run for no more than 3-5 seconds. If it does, continue troubleshooting;
  2. If the FUEL PUMP runs longer than 3-5 seconds, check for fuel leaks.
  3. Test pressure at the fuel rail. If pressure is erratic or too high at idle, replace the fuel pressure regulator;
  4. If fuel pressure is too low at idle, replace the fuel filter. Still too low? Replace the fuel pump and fuel pickup strainer.

Avensis d4

that is usually the sign of a power pack problem, or spark plugs and yes, fuel filter would also need to be changed. That probably wouldn't fix the problem

I have a 2002 chrystler twn n country.one day it started to idle really rough so i changed the fuel pump,spark plugs, new wires, and fuel filter.still idles erratically and stalls when you goose it.also...

From the Fuel End: check the power at each individual fuel injector. If that checks out okay: Pull and check (and replace if needed) the fuel injectors. These could be clogged or malfunctioning.
From the Electronic End: disconnect and check the Electronic Ignition Coil Pack for continuity and consistent Spark. This should have been checked first as a rough idle could be caused by this.

2001 v6 4.0 ranger erratic idling at stop

That's where I would start. Get a spray bottle with water in it and a few drops of dish soap just to make it sudsy. Start the truck and spray around all of the vacuum lines, intake manifold, etc. If the idle goes up, that's your leak. Good luck
