Check engine temperature, fan operation and thermostat. Also check inside blower operation. If intermittent, then check and/or change the blower motor.
The best way I can say is to cut off the line as close as you can at the fitting on each end. Then use a ratchet and a six point socket that will fit the fitting, and remove the fitting. I would spray some WD-40 on the fittings to help get them loose.
C-19 Blower motor fuse 25A located in cabin fuse box. Left hand footwell on LHD vehicles, right hand dashboard on RHD vehicles. Start by checking blower relay B-36 in the engine compartment fuse and relay box. Remove the relay. Jumper directly from battery to pins 85 and 86. (also see here: http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5544622-wire_relay if you dont know about relays) The relay should click Now measure across pins 30 and 87. Measurement should be 0 ohm. Remove the blower motor(3 screws on the bottom of the unit under the passenger side dash) and connect jumper leads from the battery directly to the blower motor to see that it operates. The blower motor resister is mounted on the ducting between the motor housing and the heating unit. Remove to test Measure :
The resistors are in circuit only on the lower fan speed settings.
On the highest speed setting, power is switched directly to the fan motor.
Check fan power supply fuses,
Check power is available to the fan when high speed selected.
If all above OK, apply power directly to the motor to verify fan motor runs- if it doesn't the motor may need replacement/repair.
You can test the blower motor by connecting a positive and negetive wire directly to the 2 terminals on the motor.
As far as the resistor goes. If the blower motor only works on high fan speed then the resistor is bad. If it works on all speeds except high, then the relay is bad. Good luck. Hope this helps.
check to see if AC and HEATER blower motor is getting power .if yes replace blower motor.if no you have problems in relay- fuse- or ac and heater switch is bad.for sun roof check for power at switch if yes sun roof eletric motor need replace.or sun roof in a bind.if no power to sun roof switch.blowed fuses and bulbs or turn signal switch is bad.
Hi Nomad, this is a common problem with the Rodeo, rain water drains down into the fan blower which shorts it, causes rust, seizes etc, which then burns out the fan resistor pack. I had my one replaced but did not replace the blower as it seemed to be ok after I unseized it, the new resistor pack lasted a week, Probably should have replaced the blower to. I now have wired it straight, so I have full fan or no fan. I have also drive a 6mm hole in the botom of the fan where there looks like a channel to allow any water to drain out, I also sprayed CRC into it.
