It could be worn suspension parts, like ball joints, tie rod ends, worn bushings. It is best to have a Front End Shop take a look at it to determine what part is worn out.
Sounds like the Spring may be broken or there is another loose front end part such as a ball joint or a spring seat or something like that.
I had a broken spring on my 1990 Cadillac Deville and didn't know it until looking at it up under the wheel, and experiencing a popping or knocking sound when turning.
Your best bet would be to have the CV joints inspected. When they go bad they have a tendency to pop and crunch and will eventually fall apart if they are not replaced.
