I have a 1997 olds lss that is clearly leaking water through the firewall on the drivers side and puddles up on the floor in the front and makes its way to the back it is only on the drivers side and lets make this clear we cleaned and dried this car out this fall and we havent driven it this winter so it has been sitting and somehow between the snow melting and the rains we had last week the floorboard is soaked again it is clearly coming in somewhere on the drivers side against the firewall i pulled the carpet back and it is soaked just to the left of the steering column on the firewall there is a foam cushion behind the carpet on the firewall and it is soaked again why is this leaking

Don A has an excellent answer, but if you have a sunroof, that is more likely the reason. The pipe runs down between the door pillar and the windshield and there is often a join there which can part. Be careful with compressed air as it can blow joints apart.

i think the drain is blocked that allows the water that collects under the wiper motor grill ,look on the rear of the firewall and their is a compartment where the wiper motor is ,look either side and their is a drain hole and i think this is blocked with dead leaves or general rubbish like old rags or tissue paper

is your water pump on that side? if so i would say your water pump is bad.

If you have a wet seat then it is likely defective weather stripping around the window.

Try this. If the floor is dry, then it rains and the floor remains dry, only gets wet after a drive in the rain or on wet streets, you may have a hole somewhere.

Check for holes from missing rubber grommets or holes in the floorboard or firewall from rust. Check for any rust holes or missing rubber grommets under the car or on the firewall, anywhere water can splash up into the vehicle from driving in rain or running through puddles..

Check wet spots along the carpeting all the way up under the dash, if the wet spot is higher than the floor itself, you could be getting the water from splashing through puddles.

Any holes under the car or in the fenderwell even up on the firewall can cause this problem.

First check for any obvious signs of rust, if none are found then look for missing or defective rubber grommets.

There is a hose on the passenger side fire wall. You may have the water leaking back into the car, and may need an extension piece.

Is it antifreeeze from heater core or heater core hose leak?  Is the leak pure water, or maybe something else?
Put it in the garage again overnight with an old white towel in the drivers foot well, best if you can find a way to stretch it from drivers seat forwar to firewall and keep it off of floor mat.  Check it before you go to bed,  then in the morning if no leak found yet.  see if the color/location of the spot helps you identify the source.  I think the heater core is under the dash center.  Anti freeze is green/yellow or orange.

could the clear oil actually be water?. if it is leaking out in the area around or behind the passenger side front wheel on hot days, it is probably water from your A/C, system. it has an overflow or drainage pipe, as the process of cooling the air dehumidifies it and produces water. just a guess though
