The odometer is driven by a small plastic gear and with all forms of plastic, it suffers from thermal stress (the interior of the vehicle heats up and cools down constantly) and mechanical stress from normal use. The chances are that this small drive gear (king gear or first motion gear) has worn to the point that it can no longer drive the odometer.
Have the speedo head unit repaired by a qualified specialist and all will be well.
I would not advise that you attempt this repair yourself as the dissassembly and re-assembly of a modern speedo head unit can (and most likely will) alter the calibration of the speed reading, even in a electronic speedo head, damage can happen with no outside signs that a compnent has been damaged.

Test the dash first. Put key in hold down trip reset botton. Turn the key to on but don't start. Release the trip botton. Should turn on all dash lights & check for codes in the odometer. If getting codes reply back.
