Just had 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood Braughn inspected and after inspection was driving car and transmission begin to have hard time shifting into 3rd and motor would race and finally slip in and out of gear--Car only has 50,000 miles--Could the inspection procedure have affected the electrical sensors on and in the tranny???????

It shouldn't have. You may have a bad transmission. Check your fluids.

No. Nothing done during an inspection would effect the transmission in that way. Before anything else, check the transmission fluid.

Fluid level great--Car is not driven much sets in garage --are there any sensors that could have gone out and if so can this be checked through the computer???????

Although the car is not obd2, any reputable repair shop should have the scam tool to retrieve the codes. The problem may be a solenoid, or something in the valve body keeping the clutches from engaging, and that isn't nessasarily detected by the computer. Automatic transmissions are ridiculously complicated, you've already done what you can by checking the fluid. The slipping you're experiencing isn't caused by a bad sensor, or anything that the inspection would have caused really. Don't drive the car how it is, you could damage the clutch packs. The transmission used in your car is pretty bulletproof internally and I would suspect a fairly simple mechanical repair as opposed to a major transmission problem. Have it towed to a good repair shop and they should have you on your way fairly quickly, for not too much money. Good luck.

98 Trooper (4L30E automatic)won't shift into 3rd.

Based on the symptoms you described, it is possible that the issue is related to the valve body of the transmission. The valve body is responsible for controlling the flow of hydraulic fluid through the transmission and is made up of various valves and solenoids that regulate pressure and flow.
When the winter drive is engaged, the transmission may be bypassing the valve body and locking into third gear directly, which would explain why it starts in third gear when winter drive is engaged. However, the hard shift from 2nd to 3rd and the inability to shift into 3rd without winter drive suggest a problem with the valve body.
It's also possible that there could be a problem with the transmission control module (TCM) or the wiring and electrical connections between the TCM and the transmission. A diagnostic scan tool can help identify any error codes or other issues related to the TCM.
Given that you have already replaced the 2nd to 3rd shift solenoid without any improvement, it may be best to have the transmission inspected by a professional mechanic or transmission specialist who can perform a more thorough diagnosis and determine the exact cause of the problem. They may also recommend a rebuild or replacement of the transmission if the issue is more serious.

I have a 98 chevy silverado. My transmission only has 2nd,3rd and reverse if you manually put it into 1st it still has 2nd gear in 1st&2nd gear and 3rd gear works in 3rd and drive only. Nothing higher

Remove trans pan and inspect shift solenoids. These are prone to come apart and visual inspection often finds the problem. Replacement units include a bracket to keep this from happening again.

How do I fix transmission shift problems in 95 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham.

Fixing a modern (near modern) auto trans is not really a DIY job. I'd take your car to a transmission specialist.

The transmission is shifting hard going from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd on my 1998 GMC sierra 1500 4x4 5.7 liter. This does not happen until about 15 to 20 minutes of driving. Before that the...

rec check fluid first. If trans fluid hasn't been changed in last 30,000 miles change fluid, filter and pan gasket. At that time inspect for foreign materials in bottom of pan or on magnet if you have one. If truck has over 100K and fluid was never changed you may have more problems if changing the fluid.

Not fuel related...
The engine is losing ignition timing.
It sounds like the ECM (Electronic control module). It is responsible for ignition timing.
Inspect it / replac eit.
