It can be done, but you need a good floor jack and some pieces of 2x6 wooden blocks-remove the motor mounts on both sides after you have placed the jack/wood under the crankshaft pulley-it helps to also place another jack ( like a bottle jack) under the trans bellhousing so all the weight is not on the front of the crank-raise the engine enough to get clearance to reach all the bolts, and tap the pan and /or use a wide bladed tool to break the gasket loose so you can manuver the pan out.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO PULL THE WHOLE MOTOR! ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS REMOVE THE MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS, AND JACK THE MOTOR UP JUST HIGH ENOUGH TO CLEAR THE CROSSMEMBER, AND OIL PUMP!

You will need to pull a lot of stuff off to the pan off . You may need to loosen motor mounts an jack up the engine . an you may need to disconnect the oil pick up tube an drop in the oil pan to get out from under vehicle . If you never did this before I suggest you take it to a professional Tech .

Do i need to drop the oil pan to ghange the timing cover gasket on a 95 ford mustang v6?

You can pull the motor mounts bolts and jack the motor up alittle, that will give you enough clearance to drop your oil pan. If you try and replace the timing chain cover without dropping the oil pan, you will more than likely wind up with an oil leak.

You should be able to replace the timing cover without removing the oil pan. The gasket set should contain gaskets allowing you to cut the oil pan gasket and put in a new partial gasket in this area. In the corners make sure you use some RTV sealant. If you are careful, it can be done. Like Bob A says you can end up with a oil leak without dropping the pan (unless you clean up the area and properly apply the RTV and gasket). If you have time to drop the oil pan, then I would do that.

Need to replace the oil pump on a 95 park avenue

You shouldn't have to for head gaskets, makes it easier but not necessary.
For oil pan, you may have too. Depending on how much room there is between pan and crossmember and if pan is in tranny. Some cars the oil pan is 1/4" behind tranny but don't think that is the deal on your car.

98 chevy s-10 2wd is it possible to change the oil pan gasket without pulling the motor? can i just pull the mount bolts and jack it up?

Yes it is possible but you will have to get about six inches of clearance so the pan will clear the oil pump pickup

Pulling an oil pan on 1998 grand am

The worst part will be either lifting the engine to the point that it clears obstructions, or to remove the obstructions, or both. Lifting the engine requires that you disconnect the motor mounts and who knows what else. Once everything is out of the way you can drop the pan. I hope this helps.

Oil pan

If your truck is a 4 cyl, then there is no way around pulling the motor to reseal the oil pan. if it is a 6 cyl then the frt diff will have to be removed and then the oil pan will come out of the truck. either way you are in for a full day of work.
