Adjusting HID headlights with auto level my right headlight is lower then the left.The self level works as when I turn on headlights both tilt and down. Which way do you turn white adjustment screw?

and all other electric things work and car drives ok.
yes the 2 orange are parking lamps. all sides/corners and ends of car good parking lamps.

some of these cars have HID lamp options.
and are totally unique, for head lamps! IF TRUE.

Do not touch the glass of High Intensity Discharge (HID) or halogen bulbs with fingers or other possibly oily surface. Reduced lamp life will result.

HID install 1 step says
Place the igniter on the HID lamp. Do not at this time connect the igniter electrical connector. It will make it unable to twist the igniter to the closed position.

the igniter can be bad.
HID uses D2S bulbs only .

1. Park your car on a level surface, facing a flat wall or garage door. Make sure the car is at a normal operating temperature and that the headlights are turned on.
2. Open the hood and locate the headlamp adjustment screws. These are usually located at the back of the headlamp assembly, near the firewall. There should be one screw that adjusts the vertical aim and another that adjusts the horizontal aim.
3. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to adjust the screws. Turning the vertical screw clockwise will lower the beam, while turning it counterclockwise will raise the beam. Turning the horizontal screw clockwise will move the beam to the right, while turning it counterclockwise will move the beam to the left.
4. Adjust the headlamps one at a time. Cover one of the headlamps with a thick cloth or cardboard to prevent any stray light from affecting your vision while you adjust the other headlamp.
5. Aim the headlamps so that the center of the beam is at the same height as the center of the headlamp lens. The horizontal aim should be straight ahead, with no visible lean to either side.
6. Test the headlamps on a dark road to make sure they are properly aimed. If you notice any unevenness or misalignment, make further adjustments as necessary.
7. Close the hood and enjoy your properly adjusted headlamps.

I think you can try a hid light, because of xenon lamp no filament, so won't produce for filament broken and discard of the problem, the service life is much longer than halogen lamps, hid xenon lamp life is equivalent to the average car use cycle of the whole running time.

ADJUSTMENT

HEADLIGHT AIMING

CAUTION: Turn off the light before adjusting headlight aiming. If the light is necessary to check aiming, do not turn on for more than 2 minutes.

1. Before checking the headlight aiming, be sure of the following:

• The area around the headlight has not sustained any accident, damage or other type of deformation.
• Vehicle is parked on level ground.
• The inflation pressure of tires is correct.
• Vehicles gas tank is fully charged.
• Bounce the vehicle several times to normalize the suspension.
• Make certain that someone is seated in the driver s seat. Turn the headlights on and then adjust the low beam pattern to the following positions on the screen.

1. Position the headlight beam leveler switch to "0" .

1. Rotate the adjusting screw (A) to adjust aim.

These are a real pain in the rear. The headlight assembly that makes them move is plastic and breaks easily. I've spent 1200.00 replacing one only to have both go out in 6 months. Hitting a pot hole will break them. They sell the whole assembly. I ended up finding a fix online with a 2.00 screw to hold them in the proper place and had a local body shop do the fix for me. They agreed that it was a huge waste of money to buy the whole assembly only for it to break again. There is a positioning port at the top of them, but you have to have a Jag dealer adjust it or it will strip out if you try using just a screw driver.

Park your vehicle on level ground with the headlights near a garage door or wall. A good distance is 2-3 feet away from the wall or door. The location must be perfectly level and flat at a distance of 10 to 25 feet away from the door or wall.
Switch on the low headlight beams and mark the horizontal and vertical centerlines of each headlight beams on the wall using masking tape. This will mark the center of each beam with a +. The marking will tell you where exactly the headlight beams should be centered from a distance.

Move the vehicle back about 10 to 25 feet away from the garage door or the wall.

Keep the headlights on the low beam setting.
Use the markings you made on the wall or garage door to, check where the light shines and see if the centerlines still match up with the masking tape marks. If the centerlines of the two beams do not align with the tape marks, you can adjust one or both sides as needed.

Make the necessary adjustments with the lights still on while watching the light beams on the wall and your marks.
Turning the top adjusting screws in a clockwise direction will raise the beam while counterclockwise turn will lower it.

Turning the side adjuster screws will adjust the lights to the left or right.

Continue the adjustments until the center of the light beams are aligned with the tape marks. Then adjust the vertical alignment of both beams slightly below the marks on the wall. This will assure that the lights are tilted slightly downward so they won’t blind approaching motorist.

The will align bot lights, the high and low sine both are connected to the same headlight!!

Did you swap in HID bulbs into a halogen headlight assembly? If so, this is precisely why it's *******--they actually cast LESS light on the road. See this post on HID.

Yr left side ECU under the headlight may be the culprit. Hv it checked.

I have an 87 MR2 and this is how to adjust mine. Headlights have two spring loaded adjusting screws, one on the top controlling up and down movement and one on the side controlling left and right movement. The simplest method requires a blank wall 25 feet in front of the vehicle and a level floor. Position masking tape vertically on the wall in reference to the vehicle centerline and the centerlines of both headlights. NOTE: It may be easier to position the tape on the wall with the vehicle parked only a few inches away. Adjustment should be made with the vehicle sitting level. Starting with the low beam adjustment, position the high intensity zone so it is 2 inches below the horizontal line and 2 inches to the right of the headlight vertical line. Adjustment is made by turning the top adjusting screw clockwise to raise the beam and counterclockwise to lower the beam. The adjusting screw on the side should be used in the same manner to move the bean left or right. With the high beams on, the high intensity zone should be vertically centered with the exact center just below the horizontal line. NOTE: It may not be possible to position the headlight aim exactly for both high and low beams. If a compromise must be used, keep in mind that the low beams are the most used and have the greatest effect on driver safety. I typed this out of my "Haynes Manual 1985-1987 Toyota MR2 Book. I would think it would be the same method for a 1989 also. Hope this helps you. Redheadedwop
