Go online to and google" manuel for 2006 chevy silverado 1500 2wd". Or you can go to ask.com and ask" Where is the resister located on a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 2wd". It will give you the info you need.
OUCH!!! Ground cable arced to what? I'd love to hear how this one came about.
ANYWAY,
There is usually what is called a "Mega Fuse" which is bolted across the contacts where the battery cable bolts to the underhood fuse block.
For more specific information, I would need to know which engine your 2006 Silverado is equipped with and I would need to know if it is a 4X4 or 2-Wheel Drive and whether it is automatic or standard transmission. Also is it a 1500, 2500, 3500 or an SS?
In any case, your fuse block should look something like the picture below.
This light will illuminate anytime the SRS system has been tampered with, or has lost connection. The light can be cleared if you have an OBD II diagnostic system, or the dealer can reset it.
Now if your refering to power for teh ignition switch then i would look inside the power distribution box under the bonnet near the battery and inside this box you should find some big 80 amp fuses or similar and these these fuses even if not blown could have corroded legs and contacts ,possible even the power cable coming from the battery could be corroded at the battery terminal .
I checked the manual, and there is no listing of a fuse for the OBDII connector port, but I think at one time I found a blown cigarette lighter fuse also powered the diagnostic port. Unfortunately, I believe that was a Ford, so it probably won't help, but is worth checking. Next thing to check is the scan tool you are using. Look up the manufacturer of the scan tool to make sure it is compatible with your 06 chevy. I have heard of problems accessing GM diagnostic ports with a number of scanners. You may have to try a different code scanner, or bring it to a GM dealer. Let me know how you make out.
