This is not good, the reason the light is on is because there is not enough oil pressure at idle, your garage was right to try the oil sending unit that is what i would have done also but now you need to have them remove the sending unit and install a manual gage to see just what the oil pressure is at idle if the pressure is more then 20 psi at idle then their is some thing wrong with the instrument cluster of wiring to the oil gage if the oil pressure is less then 20 psi at idle with engine at operating temp. then you will need an oil pump or maybe even a bearing in the engine has failed that would be hard to believe at only 24xxx miles but it is a Peugeot.
when we get to Heaven there will be no cars, but for those that go the other way that place will be full of them and the Devil himself drives a Peugeot!
I too have been having this problem and had taken the initial step of replacing the the oil pump switch too at a cost of £40. It ran fine for a week before my little red light friend returned.I have since had the sump removed and found white metal in the sump oil and oil filter. I have been informed this means a bearing is shearing in my engine and is a degenerative problem with no hope of rectification other than an new engine. Is this advice correct as it cost me £96 to find this out and after already spending £40 to get the oil pump switch changed I am reluctant to invest any more money into this problem, please let me know of your experiences in this. My garage has told me this is indicative of soft metals being used to build poor quality engines.
