I'm guessing that this has an electric fuel pump?
If so, check the fuel pump fuse.
If OK, unless you`re out of gas, chances are that the fuel pump needs replacement.

Hey Frank , what make an year vehicle ? Most fuel pump[ relays are energized by the PCM/ECM - engine computer ! Have to have control .

Hey there, thats a real pain..What I think is that you have a fuel pump located inside the tank that pumps fuel.
As you pump fuel throughout your Journey the fuel level gets lower, What the fuel also does is keep the fuel pump cool as it runs. I would suggest replacing your fuel pump it could be getting hot and shutting the relay off..Good Luck hope this helps!

Hey Paula, if it keeps blowing that could mean a short in system or more so the pump is having trouble pumping it is 20 years old also check the fuel pump relay

pump, relay. fuse . pressure regulator / ecm are all possibles

If you have voltage at the fuse and relay, and at the pump, but no fuel pressure, I would say the pump has died or the tank is empty.
Have you checked for voltage at the pump yet ?

I believe you are correct in saying your fuel pump is going bad...the tapping made it work again ...this is a very common problem. A time will come though when tapping it won't do the trick, so you need to replace the pump asap. Be sure to get a new fuel filter when you change the pump or it may void the warranty on the new pump.

you may have a crack or a leak between the fuel pump, ane the sending unit allowing air to enter the fuel line, doen't affect anythin till the engine is hot and air expands in the fuel line, i have only seen this a few times , only causes a problem when the fuel level is below half tank

check all fuel pump relays but it is a possibility that it went out again... i know gm pumps are pricey but its a common problem
