There should be a small white ceramic block on the firewall - this component cuts the battery voltage from 12 to 9 volts for the coil and ignition system. It has 4 wires and is called a ballast resistor. You may need a book with the wiring diagram to be able to test it. You should have battery voltage going in and something like 9 volts coming out. You can also run a wire with a fuse from the battery to the positive side of the coil to check the system. Disconnect the factory wire from the coil first.
if you are not getting fire. the first step would have been checking the spark plugs, wires, coil or ignition pack. please check and or replace these and if you continue having this issue please advise me and i would be glad to assist you further.
check distributor module, oreilly can check these for free. also maybe plugs, wires, cap, rotor.. if this isnt it maybe the pickup coil went bad which would usually be easier to buy a new distributor instead of taking apart distributor, if you have to replace distributor i would check junk yard prices on something older like that you can probably get parts for pretty cheap
ain t many more parts to electrical system left... i had same problem once n it was my ignition modulator.located under distributer.**** i can t remember,i think my car would not turn overfrom that.or only other thing could be a fuse.i 'd check every fuse too .hope this might help.
Pull the coil wire out of center of distributor cap and lay it close to where you unpluged it from distributor cap, and turn over engine if coil is good you will see the spark jump. If no spark coil bad.
