Sounds like you have a bad water pump which you'll need to replace since it is only circulating at higher rpm's means the impeller is not operating in the pump

Changed thermostat and flushed heater core heat is warm, not hot.. and temp. gauge works sitting still but goes down back to 0 when driving

SOUND LIKE PROBLEMS IN THE AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL DOOR NOT OPENING.CLIMATE CONTROL VECHICLE HAS TO BE HOOKED TO DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO CHECK.IF YOU REPLACED THERMOSTAT.FLUSHED HEATER CORE AND RADIATOR.YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AMOUNT COOLANT IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM.LET DEALERSHIP CHECK IT OUT.

Is the blower motor working? If not that is what it is. If it is working then check heater coil out, Could be bad heater coil.

2001 Oldsmobile Alero overheating

I think you started out looking in the right places. Replacing the coolant, thermostat, relay and sensor are all fairly inexpensive.

I believe you either have blockage in the system (especially if you're using tapwater), or your water pump may be failing.

I would first either take it to a radiator shop and have them flush the cooling system out thoroughly, or else pick up a chemical flush kit and do it yourself. This involves more than just drain and refill.

If this doesn't work, your next step will probably be replacing the water pump. At almost 200k miles, it's probably about due anyway.

No heat

if engine temp is normal after running awhile. i would try to flush the heater core.(disconnecting the heater hoses from engine and flushing separately) ford cars and trucks have a "brown coolant" problem and the coolant will eventually clog heater core.
