Radio there is an after market radio in my car now , but I want to put an original vw radio back in it. I got a radio from a 2001 jetta to put in it and everything hooked-up right but the radio would't come on or even light-up. I called the guy that I got it from and he said to make sure the ground wire was hooked-up.I thought when you pluged in the wires in the back that everything was lined up already. Do you have any suggestions for me? THANKS!!!!

If the vw radio is security coded you will have to take it to a vw dealer so they can clear the code. then it should work.

Brand new battery on 1995 VW Jetta keeps being drained and car shuts off.

Have you had your alternator checked ?
If there is no charging from the alternator the "problem" will be solved as long as the new battery retaing its voltage. As soon as you start to use power you drain the battery. it's a bit like putting air into a punchured tyre ..... its still punchured . Could be your original problem ! ! Good luck

I need an electrical diagram for a 2000 vw jetta fuse box. I am trying to switch a fried fuse to an empty space and need to know if there are different voltages for the fuse groupings.

If you have a blank opening available in the box, you can move the connection from the back side of the box from the burned out one to the blank, be sure to disconnect the battery first. ( note: did you know on some VW's putting in an after market stereo can fry a code scanner, because the factory radio is an integral part of the car's electrical system). Good luck!

Need code for VW radio bought on Ebay ID # VWZ9Z7A7383418

Hi:
You might have a tough time getting that , unless you are able to contact the original owner of the radio. You usually need the VIN number off of the car the radio came out of , to be able to get a code from a dealer. This prevents theives from getting stolen radios to work.

I need the code for my 2003 VW Jetta stereo

Check inside your trunk wheel well by the spare tire. In some years they put the radio code on a sticker in that location. Otherwise you will need to take the radio serial number to the dealer along with your VIN number. They can then give you the code. Better if it's the original radio with the car.

Battery drain

My wife's 2001 Jetta TDI had the same problem. First we changed the battery. (It was just about due anyway) No change. We then traced the power drain to the in-trunk mounted CD changer. This was an aftermarket CD changer but we went to the same source that the VW dealership uses. Of course one blames the other. The CD changer was even replaced with no change. If we are not using the car for long trips we unplug the CD changer and no more dead battery! Neither the VW dealer nor the AV installer could give us a good working solution to this problem.
