It usaullt tkaes any where from 5-6 qts. the best way is to take your time by starting with 4 qts and starting the car. with it running check the level(it will look very high but one side of the dip stick will be lower than the other side. use that to measure off of.) Add fluid till it reads on the cold level on the dipstick and make sure to move the shifter though out all the gears. Let the car warm up for at least 10-15 minute to bring the fluid level all the way up to be sure it is at the right level.

How many quarts of transmission fluid in what type go into a 2002 Nissan Altima for a full tranny rebuild

Use Nissan Altima Automatic Transmission Fluid and it should hold about 10 quarts total. I would fill with 9 quarts and start the engine and circulate the fluid. Check the fluid level and add what you need.

How many quarts of trans fluid does a 2000 ford explorer v6 need

Did you check your trans dip stick? The tranny dip stick usually has a quart low mark. If this is a manual tranny, that is different, you didn't specify automatic or manual tranny?
{Automatic tranny, the spec is for dry fill, only. 10--12.7 quarts . Dry fill means not a drop of tranny fluid in the vehicle.}
You have to check proper fluid level, that is your responsibility. Your owners manual may have some of this info?

How much tranny fluid goes in it

If it a fresh tranny that is dry about 13 quarts, if you are doing a pan pull to change the filter the about 8 quarts.Be aware that these transmissions have a thermister valve that fills the side pan when hot ,so you must check the fluid with the transmission at at least 100 degrees(warm to touch) for the dip stick to be acurate.Good luck!

When the transmisson shifts it drags out in the first two gears sometimes. After it shifts into the other gears they are ok.It's just the two lower gears.

check tranny fluid level. Maybe is time for a service, (change of fluid and filter)????

After the above items are OK, add a quart of RISLONE Transmission Stop Slip and Sealant (AutoZone $12) to the transmission fluid. This stuff is great and hopefully it will fix your problem.

Don't forget to rate this post!! Good Luck!!

I am going to attemp to change the tranny fluid in my '92 Taurus. Where is the drain plug underneath and is it true that it takes 12.8 quarts of fluid? Is there anything else I should know before I start?

well first theres no plug to drain fluid, you will have to remove the trany pan, the pan gasket and filter need to be replaced, next thing is that it doesnt hold 12.8 qts, thats only if it was dry empty, just dropping the pan doesnt get all the oil out, the converter is still full and the lines and cooler,i would replace the filter and pan gasket then take to a garage and have a bg trany service done, this service gets 100% of the old oil out, your doing a drain and fill, this only takes about 6 qts, good luck.

What Is The Transmisson Oil Capacity For A 2002 Ford Excursion

It depends on which tranny you have and if you drain the converter or not.If you just pull the tranny pan and change the gasket and filter and you don't drain the converter if your tranny is a 4R100 it will take 6.5 quarts. If your tranny is a 5R110W it will take 7.5 quarts.

06 chevy impala lt service trac control

First check fluid level on transmisson , if ok if the fluid is brown and smells lie onions then it needs to have the filter and transmisson fluid changed, and all the fluid needs to be changed not just the 3 or 4 quarts in the pan, the filter kit cost $14.99 plus 12 quarts of Dexron III fluid.

Transmission fluid capacity for 2000 Kia Sephia?

The four speed automatic shows a total fill (that is all the fluid it can hold) is 5.7 Quarts. So if you just dropped the pan and relplaced the filter, you shouldnt need more than 4 quarts and likely you would have a little extra with that.
