Hi,, your computer should be giving you a code. Do you get a check engine light? Most likely the IAC (idle air control) valve or throtle position sensor. If you can get the codes its giving you can track the problem down better without guesswork.

you may have to check the fuel pump function for pressure and volume when this happens as it could be a bad pump, you could have it checked when working as it could show up something but more likely should be done when it stops running.

Involuntary accelleration in my 96 honda accord 2.2L

Oxygen sensor might be going bad hondas tend to have two of them an upper and lower. The throttle sensor and or cable might be on the fritz too. The ECU tries to adjust everything based on driving patterns and it can do some strange things if other people drive it besides yourself you might want to reset it on hondas I believe you turn the key to acc hold the brake in for 5 to 10 seconds turn it to off then start it it not 100% on that memory is a bit off since I havent owned a honda in about 4 years. The gas pedal might also be sticking a little bit make sure its free and clear and presses in and out smoothly when stopped and parked of course.
