Its possible but not common, Chances are you have a blown fuse or bad relay. The next question is what caused this to happen in the first place. Start with checking the fuse and then the relay see what you get.

I have a 1987 Chevy r10 truck the right tail light went out so I replaced it with the reverse light just so I can go to the store and get a new one and after replacing it the left brake light stop working ...

Your turn and brake lite use the same bulb filament, just not at the same time. I'm talking about lower brake lites in case you have a high mount brake lite, I don't think you do.
So if the turn signal on that side works ok, the wiring circuit and ground should be ok. The lower brake lite is wired through turn signal switch. The voltage wire for your brake lite is yellow, use a test lite to check for voltage with brake activated.
tip

Both Lower Brake Lights Not Working

Check Brake Light Bulbs: All cars have three brake light bulbs that create the brake light illumination affect. If the lower two bulbs fail no lower brake light operation will occur. I know what you're thinking, you might say two brake lights at once? But in reality one brake light went out at a time and you did not notice. People only tend to notice something when they almost run into the back of your car to help persuade them to inform you the brake lights aren't working. Remove either of the brake light bulbs to confirm the bulb is ok or burned. After the bulb has been removed inspect the filament and replace if failed. If the brake light bulbs are ok continue to the next step.

Checking the Turn Signal Switch: Most American cars are designed to have the brake light switch wiring intergraded into the turn signal switch. Because the brake light bulb and the turn signal bulb are one and the same the turn signal switch interrupts the brake light circuit and installs the blinker signal circuit when the turn signal switch is activated. If this switch fails it will not allow the brake light signal through to the brake light wiring. To test for this condition a car repair manual is needed to test incoming and outgoing electrical current. If brake light switch power is present at the turn signal switch but not at any outgoing brake light wires the turn signal switch has probably failed.

1988 chevy 1500 everythingworks exept brake light turn signal ok tailghts ok no brake lights

Since the turns work in the back, that means the brake bulbs are good. Brake lights and turn signal lights share the same filament in the bulb.
There is a fuse for the brake lights. Then, there is a brake light switch on the brake pedal. You need a voltmeter or test light, after checking that fuse is good. Need to check if fuse has power on it. This is one of those fuses that are hot at all times-as long as battery is connected, voltage should be going through the fuse and up to the brake light switch. Check for power both places. The switch on the pedal is a simple on-off switch. When brake is depressed, the spring loaded switch is turned on-passing power on towards the brake lights.
But then the brake wire goes into the turn signal switch before going on to the brake bulbs...however, since your turns work good, I doubt if there is a problem in the turn switch. First check if the brake light switch is sending power on when switch is on.
Let me know what you find. Good luck.

No brake lights on rear of truck. Turn signals work and brake light on top with cargo light works but not on rear of truck

Brake light on top works tells me the switch at the pedal is ok. Turn signals working tells me that the turn signal filaments have power.

I would try changing the bulbs and if that doesn't work have an electrical shop trace the wires and check for power on the brake light circuit in the back.

I have a holden statesman vr 1994 and have no brake lights. Fuse and bulbs all good

ok fuse and bulbs are ok then you have to start looking at switches there is a switch on the arm of the brake pedal, use a test light and make sure 12 volts is going through the switch then that voltage goes upto the multifunction switch in the stearing colum, this has your hazard lights, turn signals, and bright headlamp controls in it, check this by turning on the hazard lights see it the tail lights flash this uses the same wire as the brake light so if it lights you have a bad brake switch at the pedal, if nothing lights up 90% chance its the multi function switch

Brake lights work intermittently

It sounds like a wiring fault - an earthing problem. Have a look around the lights/inside the lights themselves.. rear and front lights, brake lights, etc ...check the wires for corrosion/splitting. In particular check any black earth leads where they attach to an earthing point.
