My Jaguar stereo just stopped playing all 4 door speakers at the same thime. The tweaters still work as well as the woofer in the trunk. I have checked all fuses and they were ok. Any idea on this would be helpful. I've found on the web others who have experienced the same issue but no fix for it.
thanks
Check the connector at the back, if the speakers had gone altogether is likely to be the cause. If it is not the connector, test the audio output on speakers on the stereo, if it works check connector and wiring to speakers, if you have no audio the stereo is faulty.
I havew on 02 jag x-type with premium sound. My speakers progressively died. The scant information on the internet about this particular problem points to the amp and/or fiber optic issues. After following these leads and not finding the problem, I decided to talk to a Jag tech and he told me this model has had a problem with the speakers getting wet and shorting out. I have not yet pulled a speaker to find if this is in fact the case. I will let you know what I find.
I replaced all four of mine with replacements from XTypeParts.com.
Originals were the blue cone Alpine speakers. The replacements were Philips but otherwise exactly the same size and had the identical plastic mounting ring on them. I hear no difference in sound quality and I have a sensitive ear for that. Mine is 100% again.

I CAN BARELY HEAR THE WORDS TO THE MUSIC AND THE BASS SOUNDS LOUD WHEN IT'S AT 0. THE VOLUME IS ALL THE WAY UP AND I CAN'T REALLY HEAR THE MUSIC.
All the speakers on the drivers side of my car quit at the same time.
yeah same problem here only one speaker on the rear passenger door work and all the tweeters work... any solutiuons? or just bring it to the dealership and let them figure it out..
It happened out of nowhere oneday only the rear passenger speaker was working.
I have the same problem as CUSTOMIZA ("I CAN BARELY HEAR THE WORDS TO THE MUSIC AND THE BASS SOUNDS LOUD WHEN IT'S AT 0. THE VOLUME IS ALL THE WAY UP AND I CAN'T REALLY HEAR THE MUSIC.") except that I CAN hear muffled music with the volume up.
one day I heard a "pop" sound and then the sound coming from the speakers was muffled and all base. Even turned up to the loudest of 35 there is just a muffled sound.
I listen to talk radio or classical music, have never even turned up the volume as I prefer soft background noise. well, not as soft as it is now. the dealership is saying it is the speakers and that all 4 need to be replaced. the dealership also said they only know of one other problem like this in their history of the car.
does the whole system have to be replaced?
I also have a 2002 X-Type with a similar audio problem. I rarely turn the stereo on, not to and from work (pretty much Fridays only) and on 3 hour trips keep it turned off. It hasn't been blasted at high volume. I'm the only driver. This morning I turned it on and heard sound from the subwoofer in the rear shelf, all four door tweeters and the right rear passenger side speaker. Nothing from the front passenger side door or the driver's side rear door, or the driver's door speaker. After several miles the driver's door speaker began playing, the passenger's front and drivers side rear never did come one. This afternoon only the subwoofer and the right rear door speaker (and all four tweeters) are working. I noticed my car felt humid inside and it rained pretty hard yesterday. I read there is an amp above the CD changer in the trunk but mine has a bracket but no amp. Could the amp be what I see sandwiched above the fuel injection computer in the passenger side footwell? It has four or five plugs on it. Perhaps the speakers have accumulated water leaking in from the window lacing weatherstrip and has rusted the voicecoil in each of those not working. Either that or the metal post the voicecoil slides over and in very close proximity to has rusted and is binding the cones up pretty tight, preventing them from moving and voila, no sound. I have to make a trip this weeked but when I return I plan on removing the door panels, taking the affected speakers out and see if I can move the cone gently in and out or if they are bound up. I liked the frequency response of the factory drivers and hate to buy something else that will end up having a different frequency curve, altering the sound quality.
how do I remove window to get access to remove front door handle
