JUNK IT. IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR TIME TRUST ME I HAVE BEEN A GM CERTIFIED TECH FOR 36 YEARS JIMMYS AND BLAZERS ARE JUNK
I hae a 95 s10 and an 01 jimmy that have both had the same problem. in both cases the problem was the dimmer switch for the gauges located by the headlight switch. the switch wears over time. the best way to see if it's your problem also is to turn on the headlights and move the knob from rbight to dim a few times and see if while you're doing that if the lights just dim or if they flicker on and off while doing this. if they go off then the switch is the problem. hope this is of help to ya!
