HI it sounds like you have a bad starter or relay. First you need to check the battery cables and make sure they are clean not just at the battery but their mounting points also. On the starter you will see a purple wire you need to check the connection there they are prone to failure and cause a no crank condition. If you can put a test light on this same wire while someone tries to crank the engine to see if your getting power to it. If you are then you need to replace the starter. If no power can be found at this wire then your relay is probably bad.

Wont star put new battery in

If it ISN'T cranking over ok ... and has a discharged battery..
Disconnect the leads from the rear of the alternator. A faulty alternator can discharge a battery within minutes. Charge the battery and leave the alternator disconnected. Try and start the car.

If - with a charged battery and alternator disconnected - the engine seems very slow to crank or makes a 'clicking' noise ... try cleaning the battery terminals - particularly where the black lead connects to the engine block/bodywork.

Check the leads -and terminals - for breakage/corrosion. A 'bad earth' or corroded/loose battery terminal can cause non-starting problems.

If all is ok and the car spins the engine but won't start, suspect a sensor fault.

Don't waste money on replacing part after part in the hope that the care will fire up. The best - and cheapest - option is to have an OBD - a hand held diagnostic check done. This will identify any error codes and tell you the cause .. i.e 'crankshaft sensor fault'.

94 ranger battery new alternator charging but wont crank

10 volts isn't good and if you have a weak connection, it won't turn it over. You should have 12+ from a good battery. Try cleaning the battery connections with a battery brush.

Chevy tracker alternator

Sounds like a bad connection or a bad battery cable. Are the battery cables clean and tight on both ends ?
Yes the engine should crank if the battery is charged no matter what condition the alternator is in.

Battery is dead and wont start

Make sure the battery is fully charged before trying again. If the battery wont charge get a new one. Once installed use a multimeter to verify that the alternator is charging.

Truck Wont Start and Battery Runs Down.

get a load test done on you battery and alter nator and check your starter for corrision check battery connections before you jump start it and when hooking up cables to your truck let it charge for a few minutes before you crank it if alternator is fried it will only run on juice of battery then will die.the clicking sound is your starter trying to engage but not enough cranking amps left in battery if you can get it going or take the battery out and take to a good auto shop and get them to load test it no point replacing a good battery just to find out it is alternator or starter
I personaaly think it may be alternator but suggest you test if battery is good starter as well ! more thing check that battery terminals are clean and tight

MY 97 DODGE STRATUS WONT START, ITSGOT POWER AND WEN I TRY TO START IT I ONLY GET A CLICK NOISE, NOT THEDEAD BATTERY CLICKING NOISE JUST ONE CLICK AND THATS IT. I HAD STARTED IT TWENTY MINUTES PRIOR TO...

i believe if you remove the steering wheel upper and lower covers, there will be a button to push to allow the removal of the key..as for the no start, the battery light is on because of the alternator. Its faulty. the clicking sound could very well be the starter not having enough power reaching to turn it over again unless you put a power pack on it...try a brand new battery, test the alternator and removed the key..it is possible the the key not shutting off the way, is drawing power from the battery not allowing to start that way, causing what they call a "parasitic drain". charge battery, remove key. try that

Bought new starter for my 97 neon due to always needing jump now car wont crank just clickin noise so bought new battery now wont do anything not even click could I need an alternator?

Jump atart the car or charge the battery to get it running again. With the engine running, check the battery with a voltmeter. Should be around 13.5 to 14.0 volts. If significantly less, I would suspect alternator or wiring. Also check the lone fat red wire coming off the positive battery terminal for corrosion - replace the eyelet if it doesn't look clean.
