You have to use a special tool. Auto Zone will loan this tool to you for free. You need a harmonic Balancer puller for Dodge vehicles. I highly recommend you get a Haynes or Chilton's repair manual on your vehicle before finishing this job. It will give you better instructions on how to get the #1 to top dead center and how to line up the marks on the timing gears when you put the new one in.

How do i tighten the timing belt tension on a 1999 dodge stratus

The belt tensioner is not adjustable. To loosen a tensioner you would swivel the belt tensioner away from the belt with a long flex wrench or ratchet and to tighten the belt you would let the spring in the tensioner move the swivel back into the tight position. An internal spring tightens the tensioner pulley against the belt. You will need to get a smaller belt or replace the tensioner if the belt is "too loose" after you swivel it back into the tight position against the belt and release pressure.

I need to know the timing marks for a 2002 Dodge Stratus SE; 2.4, 4cyl, with a duel overhead cam.

Remove the front cover on your timing belt. This will give you access to the timing mark. The mark is at 12 o'clock, straight up. You will see a small indent in the pulley. You have to align the mark exact. You need to make sure it is in the right compression stroke.

3.3L?
Looking at the engine from front (right side of the Van): Stating at the Top, Going Left to Right and Clockwise:
Over the Alternator
To under the Idle Pulley,
To Over the AC Compressor.
To the Left Side of the Water Pump.
To the Right side and Under the Crankshaft Pulley
To the Right side and Over and Down the Tensioner
To Under the Power Steering Pump
And Back up-to the Left side of the Alternator.
Advise when puting it on:
Put the Belt around everything else accept for the Alternator. After it is around all the rest of the Pulleys - Pull the belt up - tight from the Power steering Pump and the Idle Pulley to form a loop, holding the Belt close to the Altenator Pulley.
Using the 15mm wrench or belt tensioner bar - rotate the Tensioner Pulley towards the front of the Van and then place the belt over the Alternator.

1999 dodge stratus belt noise

Your belt may be worn & slipping. Check on the inside of belt for lost belt v grooves. If O.K., you may have a a bearing starting to sieze i.e. on alternator, power stearing, air conditioner condenser, or idler pulley. You will be able to check this by slackening belt & spinning each pulley. Good luck & Merry Christmas!

Power steering pulley keeps loosening on it's own

I"ve installed a number those p/s pulley . You need to check diameter of pump shaft, it sound like smaller the spec. Also when install those pulley you must lube the shaft or you score it.
