A/c clutch does not kick on my 02 ram could ths because low on or no freeon

befor you go for clutch relay check that you have enough freeon in system, you can also over ride pressure with a paper clip if it starts your low on freeon,

It needs to be charged.
If you put it on a machine It will show low pressure on the low side isn't sufficiant, & a quick charge may get u through the season, but it's a sealed system, & if there is a small leak, it will get bigger, & need to be addressed ... i can elaborate about the posible leak areas of Chrysler products

ac works good ,clutch not kicking in now,blows hot air,put freeon in it an works until you shut it off an it doent work.clutch then stops working

I don't think there is any smell put into refrigerant,so
you may be smelling coolant from a heater hose or
heater core leak or system valve, somewhere

The A/C cycling could be low refrigerant, in which case
you have it leak tested & system repaired

You don't try to add yourself,it will leak out & pollute
the atmosphere

The compressor should come on at about 32 PSI, so you have either a low charge or a defective fixed orifice or a clogged system.

I have a 2007 kia rondo.Ac was working,parked it for a year,ac wasnt working,recharged,the ac,it worked for a month,an started again,blowing hot ai.If you let it set for hour would start working...then after a few days it would only work early morning,if you dont turn ac of,then it stop working,I see the clutch isnt kicking in,ir you try an put freeon in it soon as you start putting it in it would kick on.An its full of freeon.

when you turn on the a/c does the compressor start turning?...find the compressor, and you will see its pulley turning all the time..but when it kicks in, you will see the inner part turn as well, you should hear it click when it goes on.
if it doesnt turn, could be low on refrigerant, or maybe your fuse is bown?

your a/c freon has a low pressure devise that will not enguage the compressure you can buy 1 or 2 cans of 134 freeon and connector that well only fit on 1 of your freeon lines your a/c must have a leak in it your best bet is a repuable a/c shop good luck CJ

try the fuse,then the relay,then the wire going to the clutch on the compressor

the only other thing in the circuit is the pressure switch...unplug/ jump across the connector of the switch to verify circuit integrity and go from there...sometimes this is neccessary to charge freon fully so compressor will stay running to draw freon in the low side.
