NOTE: Emergency flashers and blinkers usually use a separate flasher unit, but one is close to the other. If your blinkers do not work but your emergency flashers do, find the emergency flasher unit by finding the source of clicking, then locate the blinker flasher nearby. They will ALWAYS be underneath the dashboard on the driver side.
You have a bad flasher,go online type in google images ford blinker flasher so you will see what the look like.its located under the drivers side steering wheel probably in the fuse box pull the old one out replace it with a heavy duty flasher problem solved
You could potentially have bad flashers. Try looking up in your manual where your flashers plug in. Either in the fuse panel under the steering wheel or the power distribution block under the hood. Once located try replacing the flashers. The Flasher is sort of like a fuse that automatically completes the circuit giving power to the blinker then interrupts the current. It allows the circuit to alternate like this making the indicators flash on and off. You might look at the turn signal fuses while your at it.
NO THE BLINKER AND EMERGENCY FLASHER ARE TWO SEPERATE UNITS. THEY ARE USUALY UNDER THE DASH, YOU CAN TURN YOU BLINKER ON AND LISTEN FOR A CLICKING TO NARROW DOWN WHERE IT COULD BE LOCATED
2001 Mercury Cougar 2.5L SFI

No Turn Signal Operation (blinker)The turn signal lights in your car are a basic electrical system that controls the front and rear blinker lights to alert the intended direction of the vehicle. We have listed some of the most common problems and repair troubleshooting tips below: Troubleshooting Procedure To start troubleshooting this problem:
Turn the key to the on position (do not start engine)
Inspect the system fuse located in the fuse panel and replace if needed. If you cannot find the location of the blinker fuse consult your owner's manual or an online repair manual
When a blinker flasher fails it can cause blinker lights to say on, not blink, or not go on at all. To test the blinker system flasher, remove the flasher unit and insert a jumper wire between the two terminals. If blinker stays on in both directions without blinking, replace the flasher. If you cannot find the location of the blinker flasher consult your owners manual or an online repair manual.
