Worst case is that the TCM module is bad. It's located in the passenger side kick panel. It picks up moisture corrodes and the only fix is a new dealer part. $600!
I did avoid this once when the dealer found a small vacuum fitting that penetrates the firewall was cracked and leaking and preventing the actuator from working. that was a $10 fix.

Try this, go in reverse a bit and hit the brakes. Go forward and hit the brakes. Push the 2H button, or whatever the proper button is.a I swear sometimes this works.

The Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) in this model year have been known to hang up, try pulling fuse #48 (4WD) in the rear fuse panel located under the left rear seat. Reinstall fuse and see if everything works OK, if not, you probably need to replace the TCCM.

1994 K1500 4 Wheel Drive Issue

No probably not, first check the fuse for the 4wd in the fuse box if that's OK its likely the actuator on the front axle..........providing the shifter handle moves to the proper location and if its push button the lights light in the switch when selected...the actuator plugs into the wiring harness and screws into the front differential.an easy remove and replace part even for a novice.

First check your 4 wheel drive switch to make sure it works, for on an off settings. (Use a volt-ohm meter for this. On should show continuity in the readings (if digital then it should show zeros in the dial) Off should show no continuity or 1.0 in the dial.

1. Check your fuses.
2, IF OK, then check your FUSE LINKS.
3. IF OK, then check your 4 Wheel Drive relay in the fuse box.
4. IF OK, then check continuity of the wires harness to the 4 wheel drive switch for DC voltage.
