07 Nissian Sentra will not start

When I turn the key it sounds like it wants to start but will not. It sounds as if wants to start. It sounds like the fuel pump is kicking in. Everything sounds normal but does not start. Thank you in advance for any possible help!

Spray some starting fluid into the airbox where the air hose goes into the injector. You only need a one second squirt, if it starts then shuts off, it's your fuel pump, or a clogged filter. If it doesn't start, pull a spark plug wire and put a screwdriver in the end and set it a couple millimeters from the engine block or a body panel. DO NOT TOUCH IT WHILE THE STARTER IS BEING TURNED! Have someone turn the starter and see if a spark jumps across to the engine or body panel. If there is no spark jumping then your problem is most likely the ignition module, but could be a host of things in this world of computer driven cars. Hopefully it's an easy fix like the fuel filter. Good luck.

You have to take it to the dealer and they have to change your ipm computer board. They'll probably have to order the computer part and replace it. bring both of your keys in when you pick up so they can re-program them. This part will clear out your keyless remotes.

A 1996 Nissan - older vehicle - probably lots of miles - could be numerous things.
1. check to make sure the timing belt is OK
does it sound normal when cranking the engine or does it spin the engine really fast? Does it labor hard when cranking?
2. check for spark -
you may need someones help - a spark tester is the safest way and they are fairly cheap to buy at a parts store.
3. check for fuel -
spray some carb cleaner in the intake/throttle and crank it - if it fires and dies then lack of fuel needs to be addressed

Unfortunately, replacing a sensor only fixes the problem about half the time. The code means the computer is not getting a signal from the sensor, not that the sensor has failed.
The problem could be in the wiring, or the part that the sensor gets the signal from.

The pump does have a filter on it but you should also have an inline fuel filter somewhere underneath your car, Check the pump when you turn the ignition key on the pump should run for a second or two then shut off if you can hear it , it is working. It is rare for a vechicle not to have an inline fuel filter but there are some models that don't have one. The filters on the pumps usually don't stop up that often,it's pretty rare.I would try to replace the inline filter call and ask your local part store if they have one for it and you will know for sure. And usually if the crank sensor is bad it won't crank at all.
