My 1995 Ford F150 pickup with a 5.0 l, 2 wheel drive choking down

My 1995 Ford F-150 pickup with a 5.0 l, 2 wheel drive starts easy, but runs rough, chokes down and blows black smoke from the exhaust. When I press the acc. pedal it will not accelerate, it chokes down even more and the smell of the exhaust is like a very rich mixture, if it was not fuel injected I would swear the choke was stuck. Any help appreciated.

Dunno about your 95 f150 but mine has now maf sensor it has the speed density set up so you would have to check the air charge sensor and the map (manifold absolute pressure sensor make sure one or both is not bad these to together work like a maf sensor. and of course cause the same symptoms. hope it helps

sorry miss typed most 1995 f150 and previous 5.0 fuel injection systems do not have a maf (Mass air flow sensor) but use the throttle position sensor, air charge senor, and the map (maniflold absolute pressure) sensor to do the fuel mixture and timming adjustment. That could cause these symptoms so check these items.

I would suspect your Mass Air Flow sensoris really dirty and /or your Throttle Positioning Sensor is bad

If you attempt to clean the MAF be VERY gentle and careful VERY fragile. Do not replace it with out it showing a code that it is bad - very spendy
Hope this helps if it does please leave a testimonial
Thanks

1995 ford f150 6cyl - runs rough when cold. Then

Check the coolant temp sensor (the one that speaks to the ECU) which acts like the choke on a old carb type engine. These can be tested with a multimeter by dunking them in different temp water.

1997 f150 starts runs ruf temp spikes dies turn key off 30sec sta

Just had a similar issue with my 1995.. started with replacement of the thermostat.. that didn't help. Turns out it's apparently the fan-clutch. Essentially, when there is stress on the engine (driving), the fan actually cuts off and makes it run hot... and my F-150 doesn't like to run hot - starts running rough as well. I'd still start with the thermostat since it's a cheap part and easy to get to.

Speedometer bounces while driving

your spedo cable is probably just loose which can be fixed by tightening or replaceing. Might as well go ahead and replace it since its a 14 year old truck and its the more sure fire way to fix the bounce.

1995 F-150 Seedometer jumps while driving,low power

First off check the speedo cable or the speed sensor if equipped - // the low power could be
#1 - Mass airflow sensor needs cleaned (this is very common) use only the CRC mass airflow sensor cleaner and nothing else - this is very easy to do, hell you wont even get dirty (10-15 mins max) you will also need a T20 torx bit to remove it. repeat every 6000 miles

#2 - IAC valve needs cleaned or replaced - (this to is pretty easy) clean with carb cleaner inside the intake and the valve

#3 - throttle position sensor - also easy, just change it (no maintenace )

#4 - fuel pressure regulator - change it

and finally but first thing to do is look for vaccuum leaks
