The supercharger is how air gets into the engine.
Two rotors force the air into the cylinder heads creating more pressure thus more horsepower.

Your engine is designed to run with the parts that are on it. If you change the intake manifold to one on a 3800 without a supercharger you will get into a situation where you will have to change the injectors and add other parts to make it run correctly. Not to mention the reprogramming issue.

If the supercharger is the problem try these people.

I bought a s/c from them and it works better than the original.

He is right. but if u try the cheap way it does not turn out to be the cheap way you can get a computer for a non supercharged 3800 and an intake for it but you end up spending the same amount of money and loose a bunch of power

I have a 1999 buick regal GS with a 3.8L engine with a supercharger. Today the supercharger belt broke and I am driving this car without the supercharger functioning. Am I doing the engine any harm? Some...

hi.
you should not be doing it any harm short term.
your can certainly will not have the power it had, and using premium fuel will not even come close to giving the sort of boost a supercharger will.

without the supercharger, the engine itself will usally be running at a lower compression in the cylinder, resulting in less power that you would get out of the standard engine.
if you are happy using the car as it is and it has enough power for your needs, then it may be worth you asking in an autoshop about removing the supercharger unit completely. depending on the exact configuration it may be worth removing it and selling the supercharger on its own.

it certainly will not do the supercharger itself any good if it is not used, it will probably seize up eventually, but you should not do the engine any harm. it would an idea to get the ignition control unit repogrammed, to ensure that the emissions limits are still met though

I want to know is it necessary to havena

yes. it is part of the intake system and the computer relies on the air that is being forced into it. the 3.8 is a great engine and you have a one of a kind. or one of few. but the engine is built with less compression to accommodate the supercharger. to run without it in the long run will cause major problems.

Buick Regal Gs supercharger nose assembly please help if you can

the 3.8" supercharger (belt) pulley? You need a special tool as they are press fit.
www.intence-racing.com and www.3800performance.com

both carry it and offer the tool for rent as well.

Much of the noise comes from the coupler, however there are case (needle) bearings as well that wear, Those are much more difficult to replace.
