Hi:
You might have 2 seperate problems, but here are some suggestions: The battery light means your car isn't charging the battery. You need to check your belts to make sure they are on the car and look ok, If so, most auto parts stores will check your alternator for free.
You should check your power steering fluid to see if it is low, and look under your car for signs of fluid leaking. You could have a bad hose. Your power steering system will make noises if the fluid is low, so that could be the cause.
If your belt is missing or loose,it could cause problems to, so give everything a good look over!
Battery light coming on indicates your battery is not charging and the noise when turn the sterring wheel may be linked to the problem, You mau have a worn out belt or the belt needs adjusting. Check you drive belts.
Check belt may be worn or loose -check power steering fluid level if low will cause binding and can cause belt to slip if alternator going bad can cause same or idler[tension] pulley going can cause slippage but most likely belt is worn and needs replacement
