SO WHEN ENGINE STALLS DO HIGH LAMPS DIM OR GO DEAD?

not after the few minutes, later, you can not fix later as it is not broken yet.
can be caused by 50 things
but on macro mode.
bad engine
bad spark
bad fueling ,be it too little or too much.
when parked and dead does WOT cranking make it start and run/
wot= wide open throttle.
or dead engine crank it with 5% (a tad) throttle) start now, when dead./?
running 27 year old spark, plugs, wire sets ,distrib cap and rotor?
OLD PLUGS NEED NOT BE HERE, AND NEW GAPPED CORRECTLY
TRY NKG PLUGS,OEM SPEC TYPE.

Have fuel filter changed if it has one. If not it get a shop to check fuel pressure at the fuel rail on engine. If it is low your fuel pump is going bad.

Robert, You may have to try this relearn procedure.
Warm the engine, but hold your foot on the throttle as necessary to keep the engine running.

1. With vehicle in Park, slowly release the throttle so that the engine will idle on its own. You may have to work at this a bit.
2. Let the engine idle on its own for about one minute.
3. Continue to let the engine idle and with your foot on the brake, place the transmission in Drive and let the engine idle for another minute.
4. Continue to let the engine idle with your foot on the brake and the transmission in Drive. Turn the A/C on and let the engine idle for another minute with the A/C compressor running.
5. Turn the ignition off and wait a minute. Check the attached links,

Have you checked fuel pressure before and after cranking the engine ?

When you press on the gas when the truck is running, does it rev up?

Did it die while driving down the road (foot on the accelerator) or when idle? - If so, try cranking it and get your RPMs up to 1500-2000 RPMs and put it in drive (with your other foot on the brake). See if it will continue running if you never take your foot off the gas.

Check fuel pressure maybe bad fuel pump.

Could be a sensor, or the car could be out of time, watch running it like that, you will burn the valves.

throttle position sensor,and crankshaft position sensor.

If no trouble codes, perhaps a good cleaning of throttle body intake, with throttle body cleaner will help. Lets try the easy & cheap things first.

If the car actually ran out of gas, it could be air trapped in the fuel lines. it may take a few minutes for all the air to purge from the gas lines. The car may run rough during the process. The car should be fine after running a few minutes.
