There are 3 different manual transmissions that Ford used in the early 90's, according to my owners manual. If yours is a manual trans, it will either take 3.4, 3.5 or 3.8 quarts of Mercon ATF. depending on whether you have a/c and standard cooling or super duty cooling, also whether its a 4spd, or a ford 5spd or a Mazda 5spd. also 2 quarts in the transfer case. If its an automatic trans-then it takes between 12 and 16 quarts of the same Mercon ATF. If I can confuse the issue any more, just holler!

When changing the trans oil i found something in pan. It looked like a yellow half ball with a rubber seal around it on a stick. 2005 f150

That would be the oil plug that the factory put in there to keep contaminates out while in production. Just throw that away because it doesn't need to be there anymore.

1990 Ford F150 Rpm revs up two or three thousand RPM when in gear

Its sounds like your trans clutch plates are wearing out try thicker oil or it may be time for a serious replacement

If you check and drain your oil that's where you'll find your answers its supposed to be bright red not brown or smell like burnt so its a start to begin checking
