Hope ya'll can help me here but here is what I have:
2006 expedition with 56000 miles. When acellerating at slow speeds, the truck hesitates and the rpms fluctuate until about 40-45 mph unless I give it heavy throttle to compensate.
There are no check engine lights and I have cleaned the MAF sensor, replaced the fuel filter (which was ver dirty on the feed side), checked the air filter with no luck. it did seem to get better immediately after changing the fuel filter but not more than a day or two.
now I'm leaning towards dirty fuel inectors. What do you think? If it is dirty fuel injects, do we get them cleaned in place or removed?
Thanks for any help.
Try cleaning the throttle body with throttle body cleaner. Remove intake hose at throttle end. Spray cleaner on butterfly and open throttle by hand, spray inside throttle body and let the build up run back out. Wipe clean with clean dry cloth, and repeat. It will be hard to start after putting back on, but it will start with 5-6 engine turns. It's the cleaner in the throttle. The injectors ca be cleaned with them in, they will run clean the fuel system. I usually buy Lucas injector cleaner and add 109 octane booster from wal-mart or your local parts store. Lucas is wonderful and the booster will clean your system. A lot cheaper than a shop cleaning it.
