2001 Dodge Diesel 3500. When I am driving sometime the accelerator cuts out completely. I pump the accelerator twice and then it kicks back in. The check engine light comes on solid for a while and then goes out. It is happening more frequently

There is a special 'chip' in the system that prevents the engine from going on 'runaway/over-reving' on it's own......this chip is one of a few parts that Dodge monitors so closely that the dealers have to order the part each time it requires changing, the dealers do not have this 'chip' in-stock.....and it takes all of 5 mins for them to change it.....

Cummins diesel in 2001 Dodge is cutting out and mild surge. code#s are P0500,P0370 P1693

you have codes related to the pcm, transfer pump and a vehicle speed sensor. these could be related or all individual issues. related issued could be wiring, untill you start doing testing it will be hard to tell.
start cheap and test the speed sensor first, then you can clear the codes and continue on any codes come back.

Disconnect the PCM harness connector(s).
Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor harness connector.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the 5 Volt Supply circuit between the VSS harness
connector and the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

2001 dodge 2500 diesel oil leak in front of power

The power steering pump is piggie backed to the vacuum pump. The seal in the back of the vacuum pump has engin oil under presure behind it cousing a leak that gets worse over time. Cummins make a seal kit to fix this leak.

04 dodge diesel cuts out while driving at speed

Hi. I had the same problem on my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins. I went to the dealer and they did a bunch of diagnostics and they replaced my fuel pump. At the same time they put in a retrofit kit that moved the fuel pump to the inside of the gas tank. I have not had the problem since. The cost was about $1,200, but my 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty covered it and I had to pay the $100 deductible.
