Try to start it in neutral. the trans. has a safety switch that will not allow the car to start in anything, but park and neutral. sometimes the shift lever gets a little out of line with the gear indicator. also try firmly shifting into and out of park a few times. this may flip the switch. good luck

SOURCE: car wont start

This sounds like a dead or open battery, clean the battery cables with a wire cleaning tool avail from any parts store, at the same time take the battery out and have it tested, Kragen does this for free! Most of the time the battery has a broken/burnt post inside, so it may show Green for go, but in fact is no good. Factory trained Ford and GM Technician 30 years in the field.

SOURCE: 2005 grand prix wont turn over but battery is good

Another cause could be a bad ground on the starter. Cleaning the connection might help.

SOURCE: 2005 grand prix wont start?

If you deffinitely have fuel and spark then it must be a timing issue.

It's ok have fuel & spark but if in the wrong place at the wrong time it won't start. Check that the timing marks to and bottom are correct, the belt could have jumped.

Is it back firing into the inlet when trying to crank? Like a loudish popping noise.

06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

1993 pontiac grand prix wont start has battery but starter wont turn

First thing i would check is the security system. If the battery is good, and it feels like everything is normall except it just wont crank. It could be the security or the starter. Put your key in and try to start it, when it doesnt start, look for a light on the dash that says SECURITY this is a dead give away and you could find all the answers you may need on this link http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

2005 grand prix car starter (factory installed) does not work

Start with checking the remotes. The battery hold downs can break when dropped. After that the transmitters can be tested at the dealer, usually free, If they are bad they will have to be replaced and the new ones programmed. If the transmitters are good the system codes will need to be checked.

My 1998 grand prix gtp cut off today while driving it. car still has power battery is not dead. alternator still good and the car will not start. it will turn over but wont quite fire up

my 1998 grand prix does the exact same thing. It just shuts off while driving. I still have battery power. I have called pontiac dealers in my area and they dont seem to have any idea to fixing without changing everything in hopes the hit the problem

2005 Pontiac grand prix 3.8 doesn't start

Try this: Turn ignition on for AT LEAST 10 minutes without doing anything else. After 10 minutes, turn the key to start, thre is a good chance of it running. Long explanation, but it has to do with the PassLock security system futzing up.
