YES. after you take the brakes, rotors off, the bearing has 3 or 4 bolts, take those out and the 1 big nut off the end of the axle. the bearing unit should come out. grease the splined shaft before you put the new bearing on it. ,if you need to do front brakes, now is the time.

There is a roar at the front driver side wheel we have had tires checked and that was not the problem . when you turn wheel to right the noise stops , if you go stright or turn left the noise remains.it...

You need to replace the wheel bearing. I would bet it is the right side. When you turn to the right the load of the vehicle is transferred to the left. Less load on the right side and the noise goes away. It is a classic sign of a bad wheel bearing.

I can give you further instructions on how to make the repair. Just need to no if its 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive.

I have a 1994 GMC K1500 Sierra :5.7L 350CI V8 and I have a worn front wheel bearing and I took the hub off and saw that the inner bearing is in peices, Now I cant find where to find the bearing,, All I can...

the bearing hub is a pre-assembled unit it has to be pressed together and the bearings have to be preloaded that is why you can only buy the hub assy. and it a whole lot easier to replace then the old 4X4 ft. wheel bearings.HAVE FUN

Have a 1998 awd mercury mountaineer and the front wheel bearing is going bad. Do I need to replace the whole assembly or just the bearing? ty

nowadays, mechanics can change an assembly and pay only $55 to $75 or up for the whole hub assembly complete with the abs wheel speed sensor.

The assembly comes with a new bearing. Otherwise, special knowledge and tools are required to press a new bearing on to the old hub, which probably is rusty.

So, it makes sense to change the whole hub assembly when the bearing goes bad, and many times get a lifetime warranty on the part..

Good luck on this one.

How to change my front differential seal and bearing ? passenger side. I bought a new wheel bearing because of a humming sound on passenger side and doing so saw leaking seal and maybe the humming was...

That will be a Huge job. The whole front diff must come out of the car and the case will need to be taken apart to even gain acess to the carrier side bearings.
The hub bearing is where the wheel bolts up is that maybe what you are talking about?
Also the axle seal isn't that bad to do you need to remove the cv shaft then it's just a simple remove the seal and install the new one.
But all of these jobs will be big ones.
