I would start with sway bar links because they do make clanking noises when worn. plus they are usually cheaper than a strut or a cv shaft...

CV joints yes look at the rubber boots for damage. You can get a replacement boot but if you do remove all the old grease to remove any dirt that is cousing your problem.
