Jump started friends car,,,,during jump, car sputtered twice and stalled...would not restart..cranks fine,,,does not turn over...sprayed starter fluid in carb and it kikcked right over....thinking it is the fuel pump..no whizz or whir in trunk area to denote fuel pump is working..could be relay? hope its the fuel filter...car has been running at about 1/4 tank and just put in 10 bucks worth..hoping the fuel tank gunk swirled around and clogged the filter...I'd rather replace the filter and not the pump...your ideas? maybe tips if I need to replace fuel pump( in the gas tank)

I will try to help you some here but your description is not clear. You say it cranks but wont turn over. Do you mean it clicks but wont turn over? Anyway I would check battery condition and connections. Also check starter connections and ground cables from battery to engine, frame, and body. Hope this helps you out.
Its a solenoid...it engages the bendix and truck starts...bendix should retract because power to it gets shut off by ignition switch going to "run".
Only way bendix would stay engaged or get a signal to keep turning ???
Bad contacts in ignition switch...maybe ??
Start relay in under hood power distribution panel has hot or welded contacts ?
I've gotta think about this one...hope this gives some help...
