Having a temperature question/problem. 2005 Jeep grand cherokee 5.7L Hemi 4x4 49,000 Miles. The temperature gauge plays around a lot. goes from the little bar before half temp. to the little bar after half temp. Truck doesnt heat up or anything but i do notice the constant changes. Live in the Caribbean so it is very hot outside and also have very mountainy roads. Temp goes up to a the small bar after half temp when going up a hill/mountain road. but goes back down once the road levels off.Usually to around half temp. Also when going down hills/mountain the temp is lower than half. But it plays around these levels. Is this normal? I had the car checked out. They say everything seems fine. HELP PLEASE!!!

Sounds more like air in the system, any time the guage goes up and down air is the cause, change the thermostat with OEM, vacume the system and fill with coolent.

It sounds normal, but perhaps the radiator is a little small. Make sure the core is clean by blowing it out with compressed air (from the engine side) to clear out bugs and other debris. Make sure the overflow/reserve tank is at the proper level. Check the coolant level in the radiator when engine cold--it should be right at the top of the filler. These are all preventive, not a cure for anything.

2005 Grand Cherokee grinding

The Wheel Bearing(s) need to be replaced. They should be bolt-on assembly and are bolted from the back of the steering knuckle. It is easy to remove and replace. Buy your bearing assembly(ies) from an auto parts store versus the dealer to save you a lot of money.

The egr valve is located on the front of the right cylinder head. It has a tube attached to it and going to the intake manifold. It has failed and is why your jeep is running rough and hesitating. Replace it and it will fix your driveabllity issues. Disconnect the battery for 2 min to clear the code.

Check your Racket Pinion, and gearbox. Make sure there is no moisture around it. Seems like you either have a leak in your suspension, or improper pressure somewhere inbetween your stearing box, and your front end.
