1992buick roadmaster rwd 350 v/8 loaded NO POWER

1992buick roadmaster rwd 350 v/8 loaded NO POWER ! took off alternator bench tested good took out battery tested ok needed charge. Checked all cables good no frays no corrosion. Alternator and starter cable are joined together at the battery terminal mount coated in rubber and a accessory cable coated in rubber at the battery terminal mount. Both these cables are sandwiched together and bolted to the side mounted positive battery terminal. I replaced the lead doughnut between the cable terminals and installed a new bolt to get a tight connection at the battery. The accessory cable runs from battery to a junction block which feeds 5-6 smaller wires. I took apart all connections and grounds cleaned and wire brushed them and made sure all were tight. When you try to start the engine you get the seloniod click and a partial engine turn,, no head lights?? What am i missing??? or Bad relay??? Help??

I've had the same problem many times.First check the starter post.It has a nut at the bottom, the battery cable sandwiched(with some other wire connectors) in and a nut holding the cables on.The bottom nut (closest to the starter) loosens up and breaks contact with the voltage from the battery.Take off the top nut and cables and make sure the bottom nut is tight.(not muscleman tight, wuss tight). If this checks out OK and the problem still occurs replace the starter.

Either the battery is bad or bad connections, be sure to check ground wire from battery to engine.

Is my starter bad? When trying to start I hear a single click. Voltmeter shows a drop from about 12V to 8-9V while turning. Starter motor gets really hot, load wires between battery and starter get so...

check to see if you can turn the engine over by hand it maybe siezed and not turn over.this can cause this type of starter problem and voltage drop.check all grounds from the battery to engine block and body under the hood,if you have a bad ground it can cause a similar type problem.

2000 Toyota Land Cruiser having on and off trouble starting, Similar to previous post. Had batery, alternator and starter tested on the vehicle and was told the starter was bad so I pulled the starter but...

Starter problems are very common on these V-8 engines, even though it may test good on the bench it doersn't mean it's going to work in the engine everytime since the becch test doesn't have the load of turning the engine, I would not trust this starter in this case because of all the work involved in removing it again.

Thank you both for your advice, i think my next step is to try an get it over to a shop somehow!! Because i Got the alternator tested and made sure the battery holds its load. I'm thinking it has to be...

Well that is a possibility. But, first you have to take into account how the alternator was tested. If you took it out of the vehicle and a parts place or auto shop bench tested it and results were good, right there tells you that the problem lies within your vehicle. Just where...? But I have a good clue that that blue wire is something to do with the problem. Thank you.

How do I reset the battery light on 2003 f150

By clearing the problem that the battery charge circuit is having.
Did you check the Alternator charge circuit fuse ( engine compartment fuse # 11 ) ?
IF this tests good with a meter on both sides, next is to check the harness where it plugs into the alternator, some times the contacts can get corroded
c475e2f.jpg
If this has power from fuse #11 above, next is to check the brushes in the alternator ( watch those springs when you check them ) :

You might also need to have the battery load tested, as well as having the alternator bench tested for the RPM range.
