There is not a common relay for the headlights and headlamps. There is a Exterior Lamp Module with internal relays that might have failed - but it is a dealer only part and must be purchased through them. Re-check the fuses - as they may LOOK good, but the break can be conspicuous. Testing with a multimeter is the preferred method. Thanks for using FixYa!!

I have a 1990 Lexus LS 400 and I was told the alternator is the problem....The lights, radio, and tail-lights do not work (Nothing electrical even with a new battery). Could this be the only problem??...

I would inspect your wires at the starter. If you live up north then corrosion is bad, clean all wires going to starter. then clean wires to back of alternator. I seriously doubt that alternator is the problem, but if you remove it you can have it tested for free at most parts stores.

Cannot adjust low and high beam headlights separatlyLexus LS 430

Shine your head lights on a wall either in your garage or outside wall and re-adjust your head light back to were you think you had them last. Use the high beam and the low beam settings and you will be able to beam the light were you think they should be. Common problem with most new vehicles now days, low beams don't seem to be bright enough.

Hatterasnc,

You're alternator has gone bad and the vehicle was running on battery power. The "clicking" sound is your now dead battery that does not have enough power to turn over the starter. You might also want to check your power steering pump for leak. This is a know problem with early LS400s and will most likey be the cause of the alternator failure. I just dropped $1050.00 to fix the very same promblems you have.
