Do you know where I can find the gearbox oil resevoir and cap on a Peugeot 806 (manual transmission)? I can find the engine oil resevoir and cap, I assume there is a different resevoir and cap for the gear box. The form doesn't allow me to enter the correct model or year. My car is definatley a Peugeot 806 manual transmission, first registered in 1996 Cheers AI

First of all we need to know if the vehicle is automatic or manuel? if its automatic then you can ad oil through the ****** dip stick hole and if the vehicle is manuel gears then there is diffrent oil and a diffrent place to put the oil in. Donot put gear oil in power steering.
If you're not mecahnically minded, this isnt a job for you.
There is no filler cap for gearbox oil. The gearbox will have a level check plug, and a separte drain plug. Both will probably require a specific plug tool to remove (i.e. not just an ordinary spanner or socket), and can only be accessed from underneath the car.
Gearbox oil level has to be checked with the car level, so a garage will put the car on a lift so they can work underneath it. So, even if you jacked it up (never work under a car only supported by a jack ! Use ramps or axle stands as well) and could get at and undo the plugs, the car wont be level and therefore you wont put the correct amount of oil in.
Suggest you take it to a garage.
MOST MANUAL TRANSMISSION BEFORE CHANGING FLUID YOU DRIVE CAR AROUND.TO WARM THE OIL.SO IT WILL DRAIN OUT EASILY.NOW SAFELY RAISE VECHICLE AND SUPPORT IT ON JACK STANDS.LOCATE DRAIN PLUG ON DIFFERENTIAL PORTION OF THE CASE.GET SOME RAGS ON HAND.AND A DRAIN PAN.PLACE THE DRAIN PAN UNDER TRANSMISSION. REMOVE THE DRAIN PLUG.LET THE OIL DRAIN.WHEN FINISH.PUT IN NEW GEARBOX OIL.
yes, on the expansion bottle or some rads on them its on the side of the rad there is a black square with a 3 or 4 oin plug on it.
remove this by i think half or quarter of a turn, and pull out, note some antifreeze will leak about half a litre, check for oil on it as this might of had a head gasket and a little oil gets into the water and sticks to the prongs, wipe it off, some time it like a limescale sort of build, clean it, if no joy u need a new 1
