Same problem... My Touran from 07 just turned on the ESP light. Same deal. Can't turn ESP on or off. Owner manual says it's turned it self off do to a fault. Guess I?m hoping it's the break pedal switch. Other wise it's going to cost me i guess. Any one know if VW have accepted this as there fault?

Not sure what country you are from but in England you get 3 year 60000m warranty if you had your touran in 07 then it should still be in warranty.if not then it could be bad news ,the most common problem is the brake pressure sensor it is designated G201and it is a internal part of the abs unit,the unit costs around £900!!.when this sensor fails the only light that is illuminated is the esp light usually if you have a brake switch problem the engine warning light is illuminated also.

TIPM - totally integrated power module more then likely . Unless your up on control module diagnostic's , your best bet take it to a qualified repair shop.

Hello Rick, ESP On constantly: The ESP light may be constantly lit if the "ESP off" button was pressed. The ESP can be reactivated by switching off the ignition and then on again. If the ESP light goes off, the system is fully functional. Check you owners manual to confirm the above procedure.

Esp off does touran grip better in snow. My touran poor on hills

Electronic Stability Control,works opposite to abs,in that,it stops the wheels from spinning on loose ground/snow by applying the brake to the wheel that is spinning.TURN IT OFF.you WANT the wheel to grip not brake.and as far as being poor on hills, the toureg (amongst loads of other makes of 4x4s),is NOT designed for snow/off road,the four wheel drive just ENHANCES grip/handling on tarmac.(try a Subaru on a track/off road rally).

Hi got 07 touran wen i put foot down it goes in to limp mode turn it off and back on and its fine again

You will first have to scan the computer to see what codes are stored. the computer is always checking the systems and whentheres a problem the computer stores a code defining what part is failing or system that failing most of the time the check eng light is turned on, start with the scanning, most auto part stores will scan it for free and give you a list of the stored codes. hope this helps.

2003 GTI 1.8T ESP light on and cruise control inoperative.

If the ESP light on the touran stayys on pernamently then it is extremely likely that the ABS control unit is faulty. Its a common problem with tourans, unfortunately the part alone is about £1000.

Cruise control is not working on 1987 Mercedes 420SEL. Any quick fix?

I removed the module from under the dash and resoldered all of the connection ( that took a few days ) and re installed it. It has worked ever since.

TOURAN ESP LIGHT ON AT DASHBOARD

This is common problem with many vw's
Sounds silly but change the brake light switch under brake pedal.
Often solves the problem (about £8 for switch) will need the light turning out by diagnostic tool.
