My 2002 jag x type which has 66ooo on the clock has started missing when at high speeds 70+. It was serviced in july and i have to turn it over a couple of times before it starts it feels a bit lumpy at first then smooths out but now it missfires at speed and the engine warning light comes on. Thanks Graham

SOURCE: Check engine light blinks and

I had the same problem and found that the PCV breather hose was leaking, creating a vacuum leak. The codes for the error have translated to "bank 1 too lean, and bank 2 too lean." Check your PCV breather hose (it is located just above the intake air filter box) and see if that looks like it is leaking (you might hear air escaping too). You will also have to reset the computer afterwards to get rid of the error. The computer can be reset like the first solution explained, or take it to an auto parts store and have them use the code reader device to reset it.

Hi .
unlikely to be immobiliser fault ,so check basics, try a set of jump leads or check battery voltage above 12.5,if the clicking is coming from the starter motor with a fully charged battery then suspect starter motor failure.

SOURCE: Amber warning lights on.

I have a 2001 xtype and the same lights came on my dash, i had it plugged up to diagnostic and it was down to a split reluctor ring on the rear wheel, this set off the abs light which in turn sets off the management light. Will cost £200, but looks quite easy to repair by self

SOURCE: Hesitation in engine

There are more than just the two causes listed by Jigsaw_9077. I also have a similar problem with my '02 Jag. s-type 4.0L. Very rarely will airflow cause a "miss-fire like" hesitation unless there is a complete blockage of airflow (such as a broken valve or something of that sort) and will most likely ALWAYS have that hesitation, just just bellow 1500rpm. Richard_drin is partially correct. Fuel can cause this hesitation and commonly at lower RPM. If there is a fuel issue, a new fuel filter or a fuel rail/fuel injector flush should help or fix the problems unless there is an electrical problem with the fuel injector or the fuel pump is bad (a fuel pump problem is normally at higher RPM). The first step to finding the actual problem (because it can be one of many) is to change the fuel filter. If the hesitation is still the same, have a mechanic check for proper fuel pressure. This shows if your fuel pump is operating correctly and your fuel lines are not obstructed. If it is determined that there may be an ignition problem, like a check engine light with a miss-fire code like mine is doing, then find the cylinder with the miss-fire and and swap the coil pack with another one that appears to be working properly. (ex. miss-fire code on cyl. 5, switch the coil pack with the one from cyl. 1 and clear the code) If (or when) the check engine light comes on again, have it scanned for the miss-fire code again. If the miss-fire is from the same coil pack, replacing the coil pack should fix the problem, if there is a miss-fire from the same cylinder as before, then you know that it's some other ignition problem. Now you have narrowed your problem greatly, and haven't spent any money on a mechanic (or parts if do the work on your own car like myself). This is where I am at with my car right now, but I have not yet found the solution yet. When I find it, I will update to give you more info and save you from paying a mechanic for doing all of this research for you.

P1699 (climate control) on Jag x type 2002... How do i fix this?

Remove negative battery cable and key out.
Remove the ECU cable from ECM. Inspect and clean all contacts with 70% alcohol.
Allow 15 minutes of dry time before reconnect everything.

Hopeful the cleaning will clear the ECU to CAM bus communication disruption.

Hi Richard, I'm not an expert on Jags, just a little jealous I don't have one. Looks like a very nice vehicle. Have a close look, inspecting all hoses and vacuum pipes on the intake manifold side of the engine for any damage or loose fitting. The problem seems to be a leakage of air which is raising the idle speed. Regards John

Changing oil in jaguar 2002 s type? Where is the oil filter?

jag-you-are would prefer that you take your car to one of their service centers!! probably has an internal filter element that needs special equip. to access and change out.lot of high end cars have that type of filter now. my brothers mercedes mid-1990s doesn't even have a tranny dip-stick! need special tools to check level! hard to be a 'shade-tree' mechanic anymore!
good luck!

My car makes a loud clunking noise at around 65mph.

Not sure if this is this answer, but I had a problem with a noise under the front end once....turned out to be the cowling under the front bumper....it was broken and it took a high speed to force it down enough to hit the road.

Good luck!!

Speedometer not working

speedometer get speed signal from ABS. ABS and DSC are two functionality in same ECU.
You shall read faults from ABS/DSC ECU.
Most frequently, there are problems with speed sensors on wheels.
With ignition on, you shall measure voltage on both wires (- pole of voltmeter shall be connected on vehicle ground). You will see one sensor without voltage supply. This will sensor with problem. you can, for check, change sensors on same axle (left and right).
Switch ignition off, and on.
If voltage supply missing will go on another side (with faulty sensor), you will be sure that is problem is sensor.

Noise when driving at speed Jaguar X type (53 plate)

This problem that your having is all too common on Jaguars. I have a 2002 X-type and I have been completely screwed over with it. I've had all of your problems and then some. The noise your hearing is a prop shaft most likely in the front of the vehicle. Jag says that it doesn't need to be replaced but you always can. They quoted me somewhere close to 1,300. Good Luck.
