My 2003 dodge durango is having air conditioning problems. I have replaced the compressor, condensor, front and back valves. It seem to be only blowing in the outside air any suggestions?

Could be the evaporator, rare but possible. Double check the schrader valves on the high and low pressure lines, and the shut off valves on the lines going to and from the condensor, and the condensor itself. (common culprit) Also the front seal on the compressor if leaking will have oily residue all over. No offense but try a different mechanic. Sometimes a new set of eyes works wonders!! Your mechanic won't be offended. If he is, fire him.

I am in the process of doing the same procedure on my 2001 durango 5.9... condensor, compressor, accumulator, followed by both front and rear expansion valves. I pulled the rear passenger side trim off after following the pipes to the back. It looks like the expansion vale is the first component hooked to the pipes just as they come through the body into the cabin. It appears to be wrapped in a black sticky mat... I did not unwrap yet so it may not be... What are your failure symptoms? I have a slow leak and a blockage inside the system to where it cannot be fully charged without releasing pressure from the rear of the compressor. I sure hope its not in the evaporator core...

The rear A/C system in the Durango has its own AC and heater core like the front system does. There is a plastic flapper valve back there that either directs the air to one or the other depending on what you have selected up front.

While the part is not too expensive, the labor to get there requires removal of the interior panel on that side which is not fun. It can be done though.

sounds like you have a refrigerant leak. you should charge the system up and check for leaks. all fittings, the condensor, the evaporator, and all the lines

Air compressors very seldom become defective. However, if you wish to tackle the job make sure the freon is removed from the unit by loosening the high pressure valve. I would suggest you take it to a shop and have it repaired. Purchase what ever you need from the internet. Purchased all the parts to redo my 1966 mercury from Ebay, saved $400 hired expert to do the job for $200. Tools for replacing are expensive you would come out better by having it done. May be a small problem, such as the dryer, or low freon, or a leak Most shops will diagnosis the problem for free or a small charge. Or you could check the unit by adding a leak detector using the low side of the air condition unit. The low side is the lareer of th two lines in the unit.

Hi all ,i have 03` durango & same problem,so i have some tips on how to solve idle problem,there is a valve between battery & fender.this valve has two wires & two hoses,one hose connected to air intake another to pressure valve,so if you just take the first hose off it will run good but,higher rpm & check engine lights will come on.some older models have this valve on front panel behind engine.
