Shift interlock system solenoid ? Doesn't gear selector move from park ? DTS ???? Cadillac ???? If it is the cadillac dts , brake pedal position sensor is a input to the BCM - body contol module . The BCM controls the shift lock control solenoid . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

Gear shift stuck in park on 2006 caddillic dts

Shift lock control on this vehicle is complicated - your problem is probably a malfunctioning part in the system such as the shift lock control switch at the brake pedal, the Park relay, the shift lock relay (if equipped) or the A/T shift lock control solenoid. Take it to a dealer ...

How do i service the release button on the gear shifter?

IF it has a console you will need to remove everything from the console and remove the screws holding the console Then you will see the wires on the solonoid that release the plunger locking the shift mechanism usually you will find a broken wire there. Then you will need to unplug the connector and remove the pin where the wire broke off. This can be done by inserting a sharp object into the hole to release the locking tab on the pin the pin then can be removed from the plug be carefull to save the pin otherwise you might have to go to a junkyard or auto parts store to find a pigtail using the same type of connector. If you were able to salvage the pin solder or recrimp a short length of wire to the pin and reinsert it into the connector splice this to the wire that broke off and solder and tape or use shrink tube or you can use a crimp splice dress the wires so they are out of the path of the moving shifter . Start the car and depress the brake you should hear and see the solonoid unlock the shifter . At this time you should be able to move the shifter. If all is well put into park stop the car and re install the console and screws

2006 DTS wont shift out of park

If the vehicle does not shift out park after stepping on brake pedal twice , I would suggest checking all electrical fuses,If after stepping on brake pedal twice allows you to move shifter then the problem
is likely caused by a slow operating(Brake Pedal Shift Interlock). Contact your local dealer for part and replacement .Most Service dealers will explain that your vehicle has a Brake Pedal Shift Interlock that operates slower & silent by design which is true. The updated B.P.S.I. engages and disengages interlock faster. Once part has been replaced confirm problem is solved, tests drive vehicle and enjoy your day. Good luck with you vehicle.

Having trouble puting my car in gear even pressing the brakes.........can you please help me by letting me know what might be the problem thank you i have a lincoln town car

It sounds like your shift interlock is not working. There is a switch on the brake pedal that activates a solonoid that unlocks the shifter. Try moving the shifter up twards park then apply the brake and try to pull out of park. If it does not release then you may start by cleaning the solonoid.

My 2005 dodge magnum will not come out of park.. I checked the fuse.. brake lights work.. I cant find the shifter solenoid..can anyone help

it left chrysler in 2004 before that model came out but similar cars have the solonoid mounted in about the center of a cable that goes to the ignition lock mechanism and then to the shifter.look up under dash to the right of gas pedal. they used to be in that area
