There are several error codes related to this - get a code reader and check for them.

The TCS gets it's signals from the ABS, so if the ABS detects a problem it'll automatically shut off the TCS. The ABS problem can be a bad wheel speed sensor or corrosion on the "tone" wheel. Get the trouble codes read so you'll know which wheel is causing the problem. The knocking is the ABS system working as if you're going into a skid, so the computer is getting a bad signal. Only way to turn it off would be to remove the ABS sensor (bad idea and potentially dangerous) or to replace the brake sensor. The part runs between $40-60 and is relatively easy to install.

On the wheel hub

if u want to turn off the abs light on dash will need to have car scanned for problem most auto stores scan for free fixing problem will reset trouble light ---if u want to drive with out abs braking system[really not advisable] u can pull the abs fuse which will give u a trouble light on dash and in some cases[dont know what year matrix u have] the brake light and if u have traction control that trouble code as well

U need someone with an OBDII ABS computer too reset the light. Usually a dealer shop will do it fairly cheap...

I just spent a bundle on this, the ABS/brake light is the ABS control module dealer says the module alone in1K plus just for the module , the 4WD not working is a 4WD sensor in the dash sucking me dry for another 200.00 bucks, Good luck and hope this helps.
