Make sure you are trying the input side of the pump instead of the output side.
The input side is the larger diameter hoses, of the 2. Then you have to have the AC on with the pump running, and wait awhile. It sometimes helps to put the fan of freon in warm water, since it will ice up as freon leaves. If the receiver/dryer cylinder has a sight glass, watch for when the bubbles start to disappear. Then you know it is full and can't take any more. Better yet is to put on a set of guages to check pressure.

Why does the a/c in the back works but does not work in the front of my 1994 Nissan Quest?

Could be as simple as being low on freon. I would check that first. If the system is charged you should have one cold and one hot line to both the front and rear evaporators.
If the system is full of freon you could have a blend door problem in the dash.

Air compressor pulley was not engaging on 94 Nissan Quest. Started to add some R134a and after a few seconds the center of pulley engaged but will cut out after a couple of seconds. Continued to charge...

Touchy situation. Without a machine it's tough. If your system was EMPTY, then you need to add up to what your A/C sticker says.It should be located on radiator support. Fully charged system should read around 35 degrees. Too much freon will cause one to run high pressures also.

Directions to convert a 1994 Nissan Quest from r12 freon r134a

used to be a big deal. today, you can buy kit from autozone or other auto store and do it yourself. Need to discharge R12 into reclaimer so it does not go into air and pollute air.

Then, install R134a fittings on lines, add r134a feon in proper amount with new oil. leave old oil in system. you can buy cans with oil already in the can with the freon. probably need about 6 ounces of oil.
lot's of websites tell how to do this. vidoes on line too.

good luck
