Failed smog check dtc p0330. - Cars & Trucks

egr IS DEAD FIX EGR VALVE FIRST.
EGR DEAD CAUSES PING, HEARD OR NOT IT IS THERE.

MOST CARS THIS OLD THE VALVE IS BAD, OR JAMMED
OR IS PACKED UP FULL IN CARBON OR WORSE THE WHOLE
EGR PATH IS CARBON BLOCKED.

KNOCK 2 SENSOR LOSE? OR WIRES TO IT WRECKED.

you failed the EVAP test.
and like all cars in USA tested for smog , that is a hard failure
and must be corrected by law here.(to pass)
what stop you,I've no clue.
most evap versions 1 to 6 USA
are 3 valves and some tubes
if the tech found a broke tube, then that tube is NO GOOD. period
most times EVAP fails are bad gas cap or not tight , 99% are.
you did not post the DTC error so answers run hard.

you need a proper scan tool and do a crankshaft camshaft corellation allignment.

What code is it throwing ? Some codes are what are called two trip codes ! You clear the codes an start an drive the vehicle ,no check engine light . Park the vehicle over night an bam next time you start an drive the vehicle the check engine light comes back on .

DRIVE CYCLE. If a test is failed on a second

consecutive DRIVE CYCLE the MIL will light and a

DTC is stored in the vehicles powertrain control
module (PCM).

USA smog fail, Canada/ UK whose? we dont know???

and ill tell you 5 times now, what is the DTC code.? error?
let me guess.. P07xx , see those are A/T errors.!!
no code , no joy.
nor is the engine type stated,.
nor which transmission.
that is correct, if the CEL glows running the smog tests is born DEAD.
HOPELESS case. that, so scan it, and post the DTCs.
we wait. now for ever just to get the DTC, post it for helpl.
or GET NONE!
some cars glow the OD lamp or the Drive light, to show errors.
if yours does, nows the time to say so../...\

if you came to my shop?
id know its USA smog fail. and CEL glowing.....all the time...
and open the the hood, and see what engine is there, UN-SAID.
and scan it and see the codes, and drive it and see the tranny (if A/T) mess up.
what codes are you getting?

P0330 - Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2)
A knock sensor tells the engine computer when one or more of your engine's cylinders are "knocking", that is, exploding the air/fuel mixture in a way that delivers less power and can be damaging to the engine if prolonged. The computer uses this information to tune the engine so that it doesn't knock. If your knock sensor wasn't operating properly, so that it was always indicating a knock, the engine computer's response may have been to change the ignition timing on your engine. Knock sensors generally bolt into or thread into the engine block. This P0330 code may show up intermittently or the Service Engine light may be lit constantly. Other knock sensor related DTC codes include P0325.

Symptoms: You may notice drivability problems including a lack of power and perhaps some hesitation. There may also be other symptoms.

Causes: A code P0330 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
The "B" knock sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
There is a wiring short/fault in the knock sensor circuit

Possible Solutions:
Check the resistance of the knock sensor on bank 2 (compare it to factory specs)
Check for broken/frayed wires leading to the sensor
Replace the knock sensor on bank 2

Have the same problem on my 2001 Sienna with 184k miles. Knock sensor is the p0330 or p0325 code. Here is a walkthrough of the fix:
