Do i need new spark plugs?

When i go to accelerate, especially when i am trying to accelerate quickly, for example putting the petal to the floor, the car does not want to accelerate smoothly. what it does is the rpms jump. could this mean i need new spark plugs and that they are just not firing correctly?

It could be spark plugs or wires. But the other possiblities is a dirty fuel filter or an ignition module ( the blocks that the plug wires hook too). I would start with plugs and wires if it has been awhile since they have been changed. Then the fuel filter. You can also get an idea if it is one of the modules if you have an in line spark checker. They are only a couple bucks at harbor freight or an auto parts store. That way you will be able to see if the fire is inconsistent on one of the modules. Sometimes if a module has been bad for awhile the place where you put the plug wire on which ever module is bad will rust or corrode real bad. You would have to unhook the wires 1 at a time to see. Good luck.

No, if your car is a automatic it is not going in to gear correctly. if you can automatically shift your car do that until you have it checked. most likely it is your transmission.

Check spark plugs/gap. I've had similar experiences as the spark plug wears and the gap gets too big.
