No they are different, in basic terminology the front one is reading off the cam for the engine timing, while the rear one is reading for the fuel / air mixture, at least this is what the Chevy mechanic told me.

2010 buick enclave...need to know location of camshaft position sensor

I think some people (myself included) are confused between camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. I believe their are 4 camshaft position sensors in 2 banks, I’d like to know all these locations as I have p0014 and p0021 corresponding to both banks of CAM shaft sensors. Where are these locations please? I have 2009 Enclave also.

this, camshaft,, position sensor,, most of the time is located ,
behind the water pump,, and the timing belt.. but to make sure I recommend to buy the manual, repair book from your local auto parts for your vehicle when calling for the part sometimes the
auto parts store will tell you the location of the part you are
fixing to buy.
second step will be call the chevy dealer service dept.
and they can tell you, where this part goes..

Camshaft sensor in 2009 hhr

You should probably take the car to a reliable shop or the dealer for that problem because those codes pertain to the intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator valves - not the sensor itself. It's more than just simply replacing the sensor for that problem.

The camshaft position sensor is mounted to the rear of the cylinder head.

  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the PCV hose and reposition.
    1. Disconnect electrical connectors from the camshaft position sensor.
    2. Remove camshaft position sensor mounting screws. Remove sensor.
      1. Loosen screw attaching target magnet to rear of camshaft and remove magnet.
      INSTALLATION
The target magnet has locating dowels that fit into machined locating holes in the end of the camshaft.

      1. Install target magnet in end of camshaft. Tighten mounting screw to 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) torque. Over torqueing could cause cracks in magnet. If magnet cracks replace it.
      2. Install camshaft position sensor. Tighten sensor mounting screws to 12.9 Nm (115 in. lbs.) torque.
      3. Carefully attach electrical connector to camshaft position sensor. Installation at an angle may damage the sensor pins.
